The Andalusian Project is my own personal initiative providing authentic academic research to counter Islamophobia and extremism across the world. My dream is to be able to provide a platform for Muslims to learn critical thinking skills and arguments to tackle some of the the most popular and vulgar critics you find on the Internet.
Robert Spencer? David Wood? Bill Warner? Sam Harris? Ayaan Hirsi Ali? Not an issue. I've studied their works extensively to the point where not...hing phases me and everything is easy to answer.
That said, making content hasn't been easy. While I've been able to dedicate much of my free time towards this project, that time isn't much because I also volunteer for other organizations, go to school, and hold a full time job. However, with sufficient donations from my viewers I would be able to purchase better equipment for video production (so as to speed up editing), research literature, as well as be able to put more time towards producing high quality content. But with the resources I have now, that hasn't been very feasible. At this point I'm only able to produce maybe one video every 2-3 months -- all with very basic tech. I'm also only able to produce 1-2 articles in the same amount of time.
That's where you guys come in. If you truly believe in my work and want to see this project become successful, please assist the project. Not only will your money go towards providing free content to our ummah to counter these ridiculously ignorant and vulgar criticisms of our faith, but you will gain peace and reward knowing that you're supporting a project that supports this ummah.
So far, the Andalusian Project has been successful in dismantling 3 popular YT personalities on the topic of Islam; such to the extent that they are no longer making videos on subjects they used to be so confident about. Likewise, the articles produced through this project have assisted thousands of Muslims by arming them with the critical thinking skills to dismantle even the heaviest doubts. It is all by the Grace of Allah that this has been made possible.
If you are convinced of the befits of this personal project, please donate. You may do so either monthly to my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/AndalusianProject
Or, you may make a one time donation to my Paypal: https://www.paypal.me/AndalusianProject
If you can't donate, it's okay! Your duas are accepted with just as much value (if not more) and your word of mouth is also a great help. Thank you for your confidence in my work and please pray for its continued success.
Jazak'Allah Khair.
If you want to know one of the main reasons I write and make videos, this is it.
When I began the iJihad series I never knew it would help so many people. Honestly, I started the series simply because I felt there was nothing being done in a contemporary format to deal with Islamophobes and their arguments. So I put my time and effort into the series purely for my own desire to see something done -- and to have some fun along the way
Since then, I've received numerous messages from Muslims and non-Muslims alike wishing for me to continue this. I've ev...en had some people tell me that they are now interested in Islam. Alhamdulillah.
But, I wonder...how many more are out there that have been negatively affected by these anti-Islam polemics? How many more could we possibly reach? You see, I've noticed that while there is a need and desire for such discourse, no major Muslim public figures have been interested in sharing this series, and most lay-Muslims seem to be more concerned with inspirational videos and entertainment. While both complain about a "lack of response" to those who attack Islam, they simultaneously have little motivation to share and market efforts that do just that.
It's quite perplexing and disheartening all at once. But I believe Allah will carry this project through. That said, if you believe in this project and its positive effects on the ummah, I only request that you share this work with others across the Muslim world.
For example, I've recently released Episode 4 of iJihad, which was a refutation of The Masked Arab -- an individual that has caused many Muslims to doubt their faith and has given Islamophobes more ammunition against us. I intend to release another episode on him soon, insh'Allah.
Now, you would think that since he has hundreds of thousands of views, the reception of this refutation would be widely received as well, but this is simply not the case. So far, we only have 2,000 views and most Muslims seem completely unaware.
However, perhaps we can do better if we work together. Perhaps we can all work towards helping this ummah and increasing intellectualism within our own community. Perhaps, maybe, we might even make a difference.
In this episode we analyze two videos in a series by The Masked Arab on Islam and ISIS where he argues that the latter represents the teaching of the former. Although a speaker of Arabic, unfortunately The Masked Arab can do little else.

In this episode we analyze a video called “Suicide Bombings and Islam: An Apologist’s Guide”, where SargonOfAkkad argues that terrorism and suicide bombing are motivated and justified by Islam. Unfortunately for him, the evidence points to the contrary.

"If Islam is a religion of peace, then why are there extremists like ISIS?"
This is the sort of question I see from all groups of people, whether they be genuinely curious about Islam, people who hate Islam, and even Muslims themselves. How is it possible that a religion of peace could produce terrorists?
The answer is quite simple, but first we need to understand that the proposition 'Islam is religion of peace' is actually false. Islam is not a religion of peace nor a relig...ion of war. Islam is a religion of peacemakers and a religion of warriors. Islam is about the reality of existence -- one where both good and evil exists -- where peace and war both need to be taught and practiced in balance. Does Islam lead to peace? Yes. And sometimes, it leads to war. But neither of these things are good when they are taken to extremes.
An absolute pacifist is just as immoral as a war monger. The former refuses to defend themselves and even other people from the latter, and the latter takes advantage of the former so that they can murder in the pursuit of power. The perfect practitioner of one affirms the other.
But Islam is neither. Islam is a warrior's religion meant for peaceful goals. It has a strict code of ethics, not only during times of peace, but also times of war. Jihad is an ever present reality in the life of a Muslim, whether they be battling against their own egos or a physical foe willing to destroy them. And those struggles lead to a better world, both within and external to the believer.
So why are there extremists who claim Islam as their ideology? Because the most beautiful things attract even the lowliest of people; those who would do anything to have it for themselves.
Thankfully, we do not judge the value of gold based on the thieves who steal it. #PleaseReflect
Islamophobe: "If you hate the West so much, then why are you using an iPhone, computers, the Internet, etc.!?"
Me: "I suppose for the same reasons that you use Algebra and Arabic numerals, despite hating Islamic civilization? The same reasons that people use guided missiles and medicines like Methadone, despite being developed by the Nazis? The same reasons that people use paper and gun powder, despite being developed by the Chinese? Shall I keep going or does your question finally sound ridiculous?"

Islamophobe: "Islam is evil because Muhammad was ordered to fight the disbelievers till they accepted Islam, paid the jizya, or were killed! This is barbaric!"
Me: "After the Japanese initiated a war with the United States during WW2, the former was eventually defeated by the latter and forced to unconditionally surrender to the terms of the Potsdam Declaration, which rescinded the supreme authority of their 'god' emperor, disarmed their military forces, and made them conform... to democratic governance. The Japanese were threatened with utter destruction if they refused to comply. To you, this was morally acceptable. Yet, when the pagan Arabs and their allies aggressively persecuted the Muslims for years due to their religious convictions, you cry foul when the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) issued nearly similar terms for surrender."

"I only want to believe what is rational. If it isn't rational, it isn't worth anything!"
Today, people are looking to justify all their experiences and beliefs purely through 'rationality', because they see it as the standard by which to judge all things. However, while being 'rational' is certainly one of the supreme qualities of human existence, it isn't the only quality, nor the one that necessarily defines human existence.
There are many things in this world which neith...er defy nor affirm rationality -- rather, they are non-rational or supra-rational aspects of our lives. For example, when we observe a painting, sunset, or any other part of this immense creation, we are filled with awe and inspiration; a purely aesthetic experience. Likewise, when we experience love, joy, hope, hate, fear, and a number of other emotions that move us through life, we are not indulging in the realm of the 'rational'. When we speak to one another, experiencing meaning, communication, truth and falsehood, the 'rational' only plays a part; it isn't the entire play. Even when we form our mathematical and scientific models to comprehend the external world that is vastly more immense than our tiny brains, 'rationality' is but a piece in the puzzle of a greater question of how such a feat is even possible.
We must admit that what it means to be authentically human -- what it means 'to be' -- is not subservient to rationality, but quite the opposite. The truth is, we no longer understand what 'rationality' is, because we have begun to define it as though it exists outside our minds and our experiences.
What it really means to be 'rational' is to cohere with what it means to be 'human'. And humanity is so much greater than the math and science we create.
"In the creation of the heavens and earth; in the alternation of night and day; in the ships that sail the seas with goods for people; in the water which Allah sends down from the sky to give life to the earth when it has been barren, scattering all kinds of creatures over it; in the changing of the winds and clouds that run their appointed courses between the sky and earth: there are signs in all these for those who use their minds." The best way that ex-Muslims can distance themselves from the far right crazies and bigots is by calling for open discussion and debate between them and conservative Muslims, such as myself and many more who desire those conversations.
Instead, many of these same ex-Muslims appeal to the right and other anti-Muslim forums, making the excuse that they can't have open discussion with us because they're scared we'll kill them, thus affirming the very narrative they claim to oppose.

Not too long ago, I participated in this annual International Muslimah Empowerment Conference hosted by Wanita ISMA, a conservative Muslim women's group in Malaysia.
Although I was the only man to give a talk at this conference, I was warmly welcomed and given time to speak my thoughts in support of women's empowerment. I was never denied an opinion or disrespected because I was a man -- because they understand that the empowerment of women is not dependent on the gender emp...owering them, but on the truth and spirit of their beliefs.
Unlike the superficial man-hating promoted by many feminists conferences, this one focuses on the strengths and genuine contributions of women everywhere, providing them with the tools and information needed to reach their goals and manifest their talents to their fullest potential.
I am truly honored to have been part of this project and I urge all women in Malaysia to join in their upcoming conference this December. It's time that women take pride in their womanhood, because being a woman is a special gift from Allah that need not destroy men to be special.

Again, secular liberals in Singapore (and Malaysia) show that they don't understand the very tolerance and multiculturalism they advocate. Either that or they're being deceptive.
To ban a scholar that says it is impermissible to give specific holiday greetings to followers of other religions -- out of loyalty to the truth of Islam -- because it's "intolerant" is the height of hypocrisy.
Why? Because tolerance isn't about whether you agree with another person's faith or ackn...owledge their particular holidays. No. Tolerance is about disagreeing with people, but not forcing your beliefs on them. If Muslims refuse to give holiday greetings they are merely disagreeing and keeping that disagreement to themselves; no one else is being forced to follow their sentiments.
However, bans like these are the exact opposite of that -- imposing particular beliefs on to people that disagree with those beliefs. Now, Muslims within and outside Singapore are being FORCED to give holiday greetings to people of other faiths lest they be deemed "extremists". If Muslims were to force non-Muslims to say "Eid Mubarak", they'd be likened to ISIS in a second. Yet, secular liberals consider the opposite to be perfectly in accord with their views.
This is completely antithetical to what tolerance actually is and only proves, once again, that secular liberals are their own worst enemies. #PleaseReflect
Asadullah Ali Al-Andalusi shared Higher Perspective's video.
Communication and meaning are essential to the human experience -- to our very sanity. Without it, we lose what it means to be human. This is why things like solitary confinement are so barbaric. This reality brings about a number of interesting philosophical questions, especially with regards to belief in God.
We as humans are naturally endowed with experiences of meaning and communication -- it's something we cannot fight or get rid of. This plays a large role in how we un...derstand reality. Everything "speaks" to us, so we naturally infer from these experiences a transcendent reality. God is the ultimate understanding of this phenomenon.
This is not to say that God is "created" from the human mind, but that it's impossible to think otherwise. Thus, when we realize that this is an essential part of what it means to be human, we can only conclude that atheists are suffering from an acute form of cognitive dissonance; while they naturally see meaning and communication in everything. Atheists attempt to deny these authentic experiences on the basis of their own constructs of evidence and reality. This is ironic considering that most of them promote 'humanism' as the ultimate ethical paradigm.
What could be more antithetical to humanity than to deny inferences from an essential human quality? #PleaseReflect

It's remarkable how most people don't care if other people are murdered until someone shouts "Allahu Akbar". #PleaseReflect
"Blaming imperialism and colonialism for terrorism is blaming the victims of terrorism!"
Anytime someone tries to explain the real reasons behind terrorism (as opposed to the convenient narrative that Islam is the main influence) this is the response that one typically receives. Anything more nuanced than the ludicrous notion that some Muslims randomly got together one day to read the Qur'an and then magically felt the urge to kill infidels is automatically seen as offensive....
No one, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, can escape the credulous masses willing to condemn everything but the people in their own backyards -- it's absolutely forbidden to have any sense of introspection when it comes to these things.
So when a Muslim screams "Allahu Akbar" and tragically kills 8 people in New York, it's the fault of an entire people who happens to share the same cultural/religious label. However, when a man kills nearly 60 people in Las Vegas it's always an "individual" issue done in a vacuum without any further needed context. Everyone who happens to share similar labels or beliefs is innocent, because only people 'over there' can possibly be the same in every way shape and form.
Similarly, this is why it's difficult to suggests that someone like George Bush Jr. -- who pushed everyone into an illegal and unjust war (i.e. Iraq) that has led to millions dead or displaced -- is the primary reason for the rise of ISIS. But no, let's forget all that, because that was an "individual issue" that amounts to "victim blaming". Yes, pointing out that a former president, the military industrial complex, and other politicians were responsible for murdering, raping, and destroying an entire innocent population is "blaming" the victims of terrorists attacks and trying to be "evasive".
Let me tell you what real victim blaming is: condemning an entire religion and its followers as some monolithic worldwide movement -- despite making up the majority of terrorists' victims -- while exonerating your own nation's leaders, their culture, and their ideas, just so you can hold on to some unjustified superiority complex.
That's real victim blaming. #PleaseReflect
