Halloween Safety:
Halloween is one of the best days of the year for kids. This day can be even better if they keep safety in mind. The Antigo Police Department would like to remind you of a few tips to share with your child about Halloween.
• Children under 12 should always be supervised.
• After dark, try and stay in well-lit areas.
• Decorate candy bags and buckets with reflective tape.
• Bring a flashlight.
• Stay in neighborhoods that you are familiar with.
• Always walk on the sidewalk and watch out for cars that are backing out of driveways.
• Inspect your child’s candy.
• Know your child’s route and what time they will be returning.
Drivers that are on the road during Halloween and days popular with trick-or-treating be mindful of the extra pedestrian traffic. During this time kids are pre-occupied and may not be looking for cars as they normally would. Take the extra time to look twice at driveways, intersections, and alleys. Slow down drastically in residential neighborhoods and limit distractions.
The Winter Parking Ban will be in effect November 1st through March 31st per Municipal Ordinance 38-274. During this time, NO parking is allowed on any city street from 2:30-7:00 am. Violations of this parking ban can result in a $25 parking citation.

The Antigo Police Department was able to verify that the Youtube.com video, Hi Walter! It’s me Patrick! Was a fake video and does not relate to an actual abduction or any illegal activity.
The Antigo Police Department was able to make contact with the producer of the short clip and the two actors in the video. We determined that they produced the video as a series of videos and posted this one in October 2009. They did not intend to depict any reference to... our missing Kayla Berg.
We will continue to investigate all tips and leads that we receive regarding our missing Kayla Berg and will do whatever possible to find clues to Kayla’s disappearance.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family and friends of Kayla as they had to endure many different emotions over the last few days as we investigated the source of the video.
We appreciate all the cooperation we received from the media and outside sources that assisted us in determining the video origin.

Cell Phones in... Work Zones:
As of October 1st 2016, it is now illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a work zone. Violators may be fined between $40 and $100 dollars for the offense. Hands free and Bluetooth devices are exempt and legal to use while traveling through the work zone, but please use these devices carefully. Some of the devices still require the driver to take their eyes off of the road for a brief moment. The law also exempts drivers who are using a cell phone to dial 911 for emergencies. Texting is still illegal while driving anywhere in Wisconsin and not tolerated. And as always, fines are still doubled in work zones so please drive slowly and responsibly while driving in any type of work zone
