"I was the kid out of all The Merry Pranksters. I was several years younger then those guys.
Me and Neal Cassady were buddies. I was his protege so we would ju...st rap man. He was a communication artist, this guy would pull out words like a painter would pull out certain mixtures of colors. He put them on this palette that looked messy and smeared, yet he'd put it out and things would start to come into focus. He was a very passionate guy and driven.
He had certain demon's that were in his impulses. The girls loved him and he would shower all these kisses on them. We knew people across the country, we'd stop by Larry McMurtry's house and you'd have to watch him (NC) like a hawk. Next think you know he'd be in the bedroom with Larry's wife. It wasn't a malicious thing, they'd just fall in love with the guy. This was part of who he was. He would draw you into this conversation that would stir you up and poke at you to stimulate you to respond in a way that would reach way down."

Many artists born in the ‘70s and ‘80s will tell you that one of their first graphic shock and influence were skateboarding brand stickers. Often subversive, but always colorful and visually stunning, skateboarding and stickers is a love story with a great ending.
