This morning, I was blessed to make my fifth visit of five to Contem...plative communities in our region, as Archbishop of Philadelphia. I celebrated Mass & visited with the Contemplative Sisters of the Good Shepherd, in Cheltenham. The order has been serving the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for 161 years! In 1859, our beloved Saint John Neumann, then fourth Bishop of Philadelphia, celebrated the order’s first Mass in the region.
The sisters’ Charism is Reconciliation and Mercy. The vow they take is to live and pray for the salvation of others. Please join me in prayerful gratitude for The Contemplative Sisters of the Good Shepherd in Cheltenham and their sisters in the congregation who are in dozens of countries throughout the world. May God bless them! See More
Monday night I was blessed to visit the Convent of Parish Visitors o...f Mary Immaculate to celebrate, along with several of my brother priests, the Sisters, and their Mother General, the 100th anniversary of the foundation of their religious community by Mother Mary Teresa Tallon. The Parish Visitors are Contemplative-Missionaries who seek out the stray by person to person evangelization and care Jesus. It was a great joy to celebrate the Eucharist with them and share a wonderful meal. To learn more about them, visit parishvisitorsisters.org See More
