Artists Michael Baird and Justin Henry Miller will partner to bring “Dark Wonders” with painting, installation, and puppetry to the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri from October 7 – 29, 2016. In a recent #LetsTalkArts interview by Dr. Joni Hand, Assistant Professor of Art History at Southeast Missouri State University, the artists discuss their fascinations with science fiction, references to genre art, and their technical processes. Bob Towner traveled to the remote Hebridean isle where the Book of Kells was drawn and scribed, and found a different way to break open sacred and poetic texts. Silent words may be an oxymoron, but he will share how contremplative practice breathes new life into scraps of ancient scripture and poetry, and invites the viewer to quiet wonder.

I am an active member of a few organizations at my school in...cluding Black Student Union (BSU) and Diversity Peer Educators (DPE). I am also apart of the executive board as the treasurer for Journey Student Literary Magazine, and the secretary for Art Guild. Ever since attending college freshman year I have assisted and participated in multiple art events and activities both on and off campus. I am now the current intern for the Arts Council and I am very happy to be a part of this opportunity."
