Sight-reading Justin's transcription of Royal Garden Blues from the John Kirby Sextet at the Redwood Coast Music Festival. Complete with fast-moving horn soli breaks, cascading horn-lines, and a blazing tempo, this chart one wild ride to read!
Our rendition of Chinatown at the Redwood Coast Music Festival! This version includes composition collaboration by all three brothers. The harmonized soli (right after the tpt/tuba trading) is based on a solo that was played by Gordon Au, which was then transcribed by Brandon Au (unbeknownst to Gordon), and harmonized by Justin Au.
The west-coast Au bros are returning to Sacramento just in time for the Hot Jazz Jubilee Inc. this weekend! Appearing with separate bands, Justin Au will be a guest artist with Blue Street, Crescent Katz, Draga quartet, Kylie Castro & Jason Wanner, and the Pubcrawlers. Had a blast at The Barkley Restaurant & Bar last night with The Big Butter Jazz Band. It was pure fun playing alongside Barbara Laronga, Scott Whitfield, Justin Au, Conrad Cayman, Mark San Filippo, and Bob Aul! Great to see Sheri Lee and Lauren Donahue; let's get soup dumplings on Sunday!
