If you are a racer or a fan of Drag Racing, and have not attended the March Meet, you have not experienced the best the sport has to offer. It is the woodstock of drag racing and it is a bucket list i...tem. The track may be old, but that's part of the experience. Its like going back in time to the 1960's. If your idea of a great day of drag racing is sitting in a air conditioned VIP lounge watching computer controlled cookie cutter cars going down the track all day, this is not the place for you. If you want to return to your youth, and watch legends driving front motored fuel cars faster than they were back in the day. And feel the power, smell the burning rubber, and the nitro fumes, then this is where you need to be. I love this place. Hell, can I have my ashes scattered there when I die? See More

So, how many "tickets" have you sold for the March Meet (should be FREE like all of the others) live feed? $19.59 is a bit much for the same old same old with a little bit of "filler"! I don't care ho...w good the coverage is! What if its rained out? Are you refunding or are you taking the $ and running like I've seen happen before? Going to have to think long and hard about this before I jump in with both feet! See More

It's a long trip from San Bernardino to Formosa. It took us close to 4 hours to make the trip and we hit rain all the way we pulled in the parking lot parked the car walked up to the gate and ask if t...hey were going to be open they said hopefully we will so we bought tickets and walked in we found a seat and the clouds parted and it was trying to race. Best day all year so far. You see one thing I did learn today is even God Love's track racing. See More

it's got good potential, but needs an investor to renovate the place, IE bathrooms, food stands, awnings for stands since its stinking hot during the summer, walkway underneath the track to get to the... other stands, pave the parking lot, I thought all of this would have been done given tickets prices are not that cheap. Maybe they should move to Kern Raceway on I5 freeway. Would probably get more exposure and attendance. See More

I have fun every time we go but the rain really puts a damper on it. The track should be more handicapped accessible, meaning...easier access into the mid way, with wider entrances, cleaner restrooms ...with handicap access not a out house. Those are filthy because non handicapped people use these out houses with no regard for the actual disabled. This is my honest opinion. If the owner really cares about our reviews then I'm hoping I didn't do this for nothing! Thank you.

Dave Schwartz spoke with Inspector Scott Minikus this morning along with others from the Department of Homeland Security who will be in attendance at the Good V...ibrations March Meet next week. Scott has assured us and others (including track operator Blake Bowser) that no citations will be issued nor will any nitromethane be confiscated if you have in excess of the 400 pound / 42 gallon screening threshold quantity (STQ) at the event.

The goal of DHS's presence at the event is to disseminate information regarding the policies and procedures required by us the racers that must be followed moving forward if we plan on possessing/storing nitromethane in excess of the STQ at or away from the race track.

There will be a meeting at the track, time and place TBD to disperse information regarding the screening process and to answer any questions racers may have.

Attention Team Famoso Summit Racers

In an effort to help out our buddy Chris Forsyth and our friends at Tucson Raceway, we are going to delay the start of our Team Famoso racing season.

The first two Team races will now be April 28-29. A lot of racers were having to choose between the Opening Team Famoso Summit weekend and the Southwest Showdown in Tucson....
Now, those of you that want to go to Tucson will be able to.

We know some of you have to schedule weekends off from work to be able to attend the Summit races at Famoso. Because of that, we are going to have Team Famoso Races #3 and #4 on June 2-3. This is a new date to the 2018 race schedule, but should give everyone plenty of time to schedule time off for this event. We will then come right back the following weekend and have Team Races #5 and #6 on June 9-10.

Our Team Famoso season finale will still be on September 15-16.

The Team Famoso Summit schedule will be as follows:
April 28-29, Races 1 and 2
June 2-3, Races 3 and 4 (New Date)
June 9-10, Races 5 and 6
September 15-16, Races 7 and 8

Thank you Team Famoso competitors and we hope all of you can still make all eight races this year.

California Hustler added 2 new photos — with Jeff Arend at Auto Club Famoso Raceway.

(Paso Robles, CA - February 12) Don Nelson, owner of Nelson Racing LLC announced today that the driver of his California Hustler nitro funny car for the 2018 NH...RA Hot Rod Heritage Series will be Jeff Arend starting in testing this weekend at Auto Club Famoso Raceway.

“Arend is a solid race car driver and has driven just about every kind of fuel car, my crew chief Ronnie Swearingen and I looked long and hard at all the candidates available, both Ronnie and I agreed on Jeff Arend,” said Nelson.

Arend comes to the California Hustler nitro funny car with four career NHRA National event wins having competed in nine final rounds. He recently drove for funny car legend Steve Plueger and his Plueger Racing Chevy Impala as well as the Kalitta Racing Patron funny car, substituting for Alexis DeJoria. He’s driven in the NHRA Heritage Series in Dale Pulde’s War Eagle funny car, in the Black Sunshine AA/Fuel altered as well as the Cheetah front engined top fuel dragster..

Arend said of the opportunity, “I’m really looking forward to this, the Heritage Series is a lot of fun and I really want to mix it up with the other drivers in the class. The California Hustler is a first class operation and at the top of the class.” Arend is also part of the nationwide Frank Hawley Drag Racing School.

In it’s sixth season of competition, Don Nelson’s California Hustler ’78 Firebird finished fourth in points for the past four seasons and is headquartered in Paso Robles, California. The California Hustler races with help and sponsorship from Lucas Oil Products, Justice Brothers Products, DJ Safety, M&M Race Fuels, Ross Racing Pistons and utilizes Alan Johnson Performance parts.

The NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series kicks off the season at the Good Vibrations March Meet, continuing on to Boise, ID, Bowling Green, KY, Salt Lake City, Boise for the Nightfire Nationals and back to Auto Club Famoso Raceway for the season ending California Hot Rod Reunion Finals. The team will also compete in the inaugural United Nitro Funny Car Championship this season.
