You're greeted by real people who speak to you as if you are their next door neighbor, an Atlanta local, a real person, someone they will continue to see, as opposed to slightly grumpy business traveler on day two of a 4 days stretch of marathon meetings across three cities. Everyone gets a beautiful greeting whether they've been here a thousand times or one.
You order. The owner, Kameel, makes a dish just for you from scratch that he has just sold out of. He insists. He calls you 'young man'. He tells you he loves you. He tells he's happy to have you. You actually believe what he is saying. Then, he gives you free soup just for the hell of it.
Every single person you encounter is happy to talk to you and make sure you have what you need. They are open to and (actually good at the art of) conversati
You realize this did not happen by accident. You realize that you've missed that bit of humanity the past three days in. Atlanta. It's not that prevalent here.
Your hosts are not rushed. They have no agenda. They are not selling you anything you're not already buying. They are courteous and receptive to courtesy. They're like...rea
You realize that if your fortune 500 pharma company sent every single one of its employees to work with directly with Kameel for a month, you would probably launch twice the number of medicines in half the time and with half the lawsuits. No one would steal secrets. No one would ditch for a better paying Fortune 500 pharma company position.
You sit amazed, watching people do jobs they love doing. They may retire with kameel, they may be gone by friday. They're present in the moment.
Kameel serves everyone in the dining room freshly prepared baclava and tells you again he's glad to have you here.
You realize you would have gladly paid triple what you paid for lunch, which was somewhere around 15 bucks.
Run, don't walk. Again, it's not about the excellent food. Eat, but come here instead to watch rare magic happen.
Get on your plane to New Orleans feeling better about Atalanta, better about your next two days of meetings. Maybe a little less bummed about being away from home. A little less stressed. Comfortabl

Georgia Traveler on GPB just featured Aviva as one of the best places to eat and it is well deserved. I started eating at Kameel's in Colony Square in the earl...y 90's. Just tried Aviva By Kameel after hearing so many good reviews. I ordered the recommende
It ...arrived with no napkins, utensils, and no sauces. Just a styrofoam box in a plastic bag.
The rice was very rubbery and tough.
The chicken was rubbery and tough and WAY too over seasoned. Very very salty.
The veggies were fine: done and seasoned well, so that was nice.
I'll probably try them out again. I am always in search of good mediterran
