One of the most underrated shaving soaps on the market with an absolutely top-notch performance and ...post-shave properties. The scents are unorthodox, sophisticated, and might be found somewhat polarizing. I very much enjoy the Festive Parlor and Honey Tobacco, but the scent of the Hot Barrel Roses did not work out for me. I know a few fellow wetshavers who have multiple backup of the Hot Barrel Soap, though. All in all I strongly recommend this brand to anybody who appreciates traditional shaving and am so looking forward to the Woodsman!!! See More
I bought a couple of soaps a while back...and I do like them, but as a 5-star rating is what I consi...der "perfect," these soaps perform perfectly all but in one area. The scents. Not that they are of poor quality, or smell badly, but for preference they are just not strong enough. I know that's a personalised thing, but if you like really STRONG smelling soaps, there are others better in that department... on a scale of 1-5, I'd say scent-strength is about a 2.5-3. Otherwise, performance, lathering ability, and slickness are GREAT! Not sure about creaminess, as that's hard to quantify with different qualities of tap water, so mine tend to be less on the creamy side and more on the foamy side, but that's not as important to me as long as I get a good shave! I will be getting Ballenclaugh soaps when a particular new product is released. I almost feel bad for giving only 4 stars, but I wanted to relate my experience. See More
From start to finish, this shaving soap does not disappoint. It takes no effort to generate a luxur...ious, dense lather that, upon application, protects the face and provides slick glide for a very smooth and easy shave. The scent profiles are unique and distinct, and there are enough different scents to keep every nose happy. The post shave feel is smooth and moisturizing, as well. There are many great shaving soaps that can be had around the world, but Ballenclaugh falls into the top tier of those. This is a great product at a great value. See More
