I love the Community Centre. It is the place I got involved in my Community Volunteering work. I also use the various services e.g. Dental, Physio. Every time I... vist the centre I am greeted by friendly, happy helpful staff. I have forged lifetime friendships not only with other consumers of the centre but staff as well. See More

Community Members celebrated 'World Wide Knit in Public Day'

Community members came together, as they do annually, at our WH site to knit, crochet, share a cuppa and socialise on June 8.

During our 'World Wide Knit in Public Day' event, lots of chatter and laughter could be heard in the Cafe Alamein area. Some in the group were learning to knit for the first time, while others were working on completing their current knitting projects like Margo and Barbara (pictured below)....

FUN FACT: In 2016, there were 1,015 KIP groups in 57 countries worldwide… and we were a part of it!

Stay tuned for more photos of the event during the week…

Every blanket has a story!!!!

Today we witnessed the handover of the blanket, a handmade gift from one community member to another.
This particular blanket was created by Wendy with a Larksfoot crochet stitch. It was started 12 months ago and while at least another 6 blankets have been created in the meantime, the original blanket was recently completed and gifted today.
We know Jeanette, the eventual recipient, will appreciate this generous gesture and enjoy keeping warm this winter.
