There are no words to describe how amazing our 8th Annual Paws & Claws 5k was today. More than 550 runners and walkers and their dogs enjoyed a beautiful fall race at Hopkinton State Park. The most runner participation we’ve ever had! According to initial estimates, we netted $42,000! Way more than we ever have, with the benefit of top-notch team fundraising and our wonderful sponsors, including underwriting sponsor VCA! They presented us with a check for $6,000! We hope everyone had a great time and will join us again next year! A few photos below... more to come!

Great shelter to adopt from. I adopted a senior cat from the shelter back in June 2017. I suggest anyone going to adopt a pet anywhere read the rules of the facility on their website or call and ask. ...I frequently checked out cats for adoption online and when I saw a picture of a cat I was interested in I made sure to call ahead to verify the cat was still available before going in. I live about 20 minutes away from Bay Path.
From the website I made sure to note that they recommend if you've owned a pet before to bring in vet records of your previous pets so they know you're responsible owner. They also have an age requirement I believe that you have to be over age of 23 to adopt a pet so if you're under 23 one of your parents needs to be the adopter or just wait until you're 23 if you want to adopt from Bay Path.
I brought my vet records, I met my cat, and I was able to take him home that day. They had me fill out an application and they read through the past two years of my vet records to see that I regularly brought my other cat to the vet. My other cat was 18 years old and I had him since he was a kitten. My other cat has since died and I adopted a senior cat from Bay Path.
Make sure to take the time to spend with the pet you're interested in and ask lots of questions. I made sure to ask and verify that the cat is litter box trained and can be around other pets. I think the employees and volunteers of Bay Path take excellent care of the pets at their facility and try to do their best to adopt animals out to responsible pet owners. Anyone who posted a negative review there's probably a good reason why an animal wasn't adopted to them or maybe they just did not present themselves well that day to the representatives of Bay Path. If you're interested in adopting an animal look it Bay Path's website, call and inquire about the animal you're interested in, get a printed copy of your vet records or gather up the names of responsible people that you can use as a character reference, and go down to Bay Path and adopt a pet. I think if you follow their rules and go there with a positive attitude and polite attitude, you will have a happy result.

@BaypathHumane Only joined Twitter to make this comment. I am so upset. My boyfriend wants a dog of his own to snuggle with after losing his other dog. I have a dog that lives with us, but she gravita...tes toward me because I'm her mom. My boyfriend drove over an hour to see one of the dogs at your shelter. Another dog came up to him, sat in his lap and fell asleep. Obviously very comfortable with him and my boyfriend fell in love with him. He came back the next day with my dog to see if they would get along. I came the day after that. You said that you needed to see my kids as well. We were prepared to come back a fourth time (8 hours travel time) but you have him away to someone else because you wouldn't hold him for us until you met my kids. You close at 4:30 and we live far away. My kids get out of school at 3:00. We were prepared to drive all the way down there and you have him away. Duke (what my boyfriend was going to name him) loved my girl and wanted to play. How could you do that to someone? And the dog? I rescued my girl because she chose me. She did the same thing with me, jumped into my lap, curled up and fell asleep. You broke that bond. Not to mention the fact that you have the dogs outside in the cold and Duke smelled like he was laying in poop all day. I just can't believe that your establishment does this. I am disgusted. You tell us you'll let us adopt another dog. No thank you. Our experience has been absolutely heart-wrenching. You should be ashamed. See More

It's very clear the staff and volunteers here love animals. I did a foster-to-adopt of Louie (now Hank). I was impressed with them the moment I walked in the door and still am impressed. Lauren handle...d processing my paperwork and getting Hank home with me - so sweet and kind. Katie was also involved and wanted to be the one who helped do his bloodwork in a month because he did well with her. Sophie, my foster coordinator, was easily reachable and so kind. Everyone I interacted with was great. I brought home a best friend and owe it to their amazing work! See More

Thank you Baypath Humane, a while back you took in a feral Tortie that I called Brownie and her 3 little kittens that were just about 2 weeks old at the time. Although she was a feral originally she v...ery quickly warmed up to me. I realized she was pregnant so I took her in with her kittens but knew I couldn't keep her or her kittens because I have 6 indoor cats and many ferals that I feed. I was fortunate enough to find the help of one of your volunteer's Deb who lives in my area. She took them all to your shelter to be vetted and adopted out. I've been looking through your website to see if I can see any of them and I do believe I see a couple of her kittens. Looks like they got adopted. I'm so very grateful for all you did for them and myself. I'm wondering if the mom who I called Brownie was also adopted. So, I'm sorry to go on so long but I really wanted to let you know how thankful I am that you all helped me and all those beautiful babies. I appreciate it more than you could know. Would love to hear any updates if that's even possible. Thanks again!! You guys are definitely the best shelter I've even be lucky enough to come across. See More

September 1996 you rescued a female cat and one of her babies from my job...they where living in the back yard...I fell in love with the kitten...on 10/7/1996 I adopted her from your organization and ...loved her unconditionally for 21 years...Her name was Knelee....so many other people wanted her when she was brought into your facility...I remember the volunteers told me they would bring her out to their area and pet her...and love her.... sadly to say she crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday...she brought me such joy and love and I miss her sooo much..
just wanted to thank you for helping to bring her into my life..

My first interaction with Baypath was when we found an injured, stray cat in our yard in the midst of the winter. Baypath kindly took in the cat and made up a cozy space for him to recover, got him im...mediate medical attention, and as soon as he was well, they found him a wonderful home. See More

I love this place. I adopted three cats so far and everyone is helpful and friendly. The animals seem to be happy there. If I had a bigger house I would also adopt a dog, although I don't think my cat...s would like it very much. Please adopt, there are many animals in need of a good home. See More

Super impressed with this organization & the staff. If you're ready to adopt a dog or cat and want to be absolutely sure you get an animal whose been lovingly cared for please use Baypath Humane Soci...ety. This is a community of volunteers & foster families dedicated to making sure these animals are healthy, happy & ready to find their forever homes. We were taken care of by multiple volunteers & team members... all the while our adoption application was being processed thoroughly. Our new little kitten was everything they described him to be.... and this can only happen when qualified foster families are caring for these animals and getting to know their personalities. Always trust the experts !!! I'm so happy with our Siamese mix boy we named Commander (formerly Fondue)... and even happier to see all of his siblings went home to happy families the same day. Baypath will be receiving annual donations from us from here on out, because great organizations need the support of the local community. Many thanks from The Diodati Family !!! See More

Words can't even express on how grateful I am that I found my perfect dog. I just adopted Sadie, who already has my whole heart. The Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton are very helpful on making sure... you go home with the dog that not only suits your needs but the dogs needs. They were very helpful on making sure we had everything we needed to know when we adopted the dog and even got to take the dog home that day. They were generous to give us a leash, collar, some bags of food and treats, and a harness. This helped us get started and I'm sure this helped Sadie with the transition. Sadie seems to be fitting in perfectly and loves going on walks! She's definitely into peanut butter and cuddles! Thank you so much for making us a family! #rescue #adopt See More

Everyone at Baypath is amazing! Highly recommend working with them to adopt a forever friend or just to stop by and visit with great people and sweet cats and dogs! We took home Rufus and Basil (Pixie... when we adopted her, Basil because she sleeps by our Basil plant, and the quirky name suits her!) and we couldn't be happier. Thanks to everyone there and we'll still be in to visit often! See More

This is such a wonderful place. Not only did Baypath agree to take my foster dog Flint off death row in South Carolina and transport him up to their shelter where they have more room, they took time o...ut of their busy days to continuously keep me updated with every step of the process from his arrival to his life with his new family.

They also went above and beyond to make sure Flint went to a perfect family. I've never worked with a shelter this organized, compassionate, & efficient with adoptions. I am forever grateful for their compassion & dedication.

This is Jackson aka Jack. He had a very tough start that included serious health problems. But with love from his foster-turned-forever family you can see he is happy and thriving, along with his brother Richard. Jack’s mom Julie snapped this picture right after he and Richard chased each around trying to snatch a small piece of filet mignon. Who wouldn’t need a nap after that?

These shy cats steal our hearts when they are at the shelter. Many, like young Mullican here, are so brave that they work hard to come out of their shells.

But we know the only way for them to shine is in a quiet home where they have time to come into their own.

Read up on Mullican - what a handsome charmer - at www.baypathhumane.org/available/cats .

Then come meet him. And we know you’ll fall in love. Open 11:30 am to 4:30 pm through Monday.

Taking a walk in the park, giving extra treats and belly rubs, and/or snuggling together on the sofa while watching Milo & Otis are all suitable methods for celebrating this very important occasion. (Additional suggestions are welcome, too.) 😉 #LoveYourPetDay

Check out our Sully in action!

Thanks to Nance and the team at Life is dog, Inc in Marlboro, our shelter dogs in need get to attend training at their facility to bone up on their skills. Our fabulous volunteer Caroline and dedicated staff member Liz took this energetic boy for a class and you can see him hard at work. Sully loves to train, but when he's done...he's done! ha (see last two pictures)

In fact, training went so well that he was actually adopted today!

UPDATE: Gunther & Brunhilde have been adopted. Isolde is available as of this post, but please call the shelter for the latest status!

Gunther and Brunhilde want you to come visit them down at the shelter today with their sister, Isolde. These three super social pups are ready for their forever homes. They have been in foster for a few weeks and have been socialized six ways to Sunday from crate training, to house training, to learning how to sit, to dog socialization...and even vacuum exposure! Come see them today!
