I was so disappointed after reading all the great reviews and I had decided not to give a review. However, here goes. Took a friend there last night to just chill and munch on some of the goodies we h...ad seen advertised. Entered a mostly empty cafe and got no greeting of any kind. Sat there a while before realizing we had to go to the counter. Explained to the young man that this was our first visit and wanted to know what was on the menu. He was very low energy and didn't really explain anything, we finally realized that everything was in the little food case in front of us. Okay, I decided on the meat pie(bbq chicken) and decaf. tea. Well it was stale and honest to goodness it was a sweet potato chunks pie and one tiny piece of chicken, also very little contents.. For the price I expected better. The tea was good but in too big of a mug so it was wasn't very strong. My friend had the bean soup and veggie pie that she found to be very watery soup with no seasoning. We left hungry after spending 30.00. Was going to suggest it for a cousin when visiting but cannot. Sorry. See More

My husband and I finally tried Black Kite today, as we have been meaning to try it since we moved back to the Toledo area almost 2 years ago. We were not disappointed! The service was wonderful, despi...te them being busy and the food was delicious. The only downside was that it is a bit pricey for what you get, but this is understandable given that everything they serve is fresh and locally sourced. We will definitely be back! See More

I've always had an outstanding experience whenever I am a patron there. Great coffee, pies, pastries, atmosphere, etc. One of many hidden jewels in Toledo. Hopefully this place doesn't close down like... Pumpernickles next door. I also loved pumpernickels and sad to see it close on March 1st. Hoping Black Kite will remain in that location. See More

Great Atmosphere, great tasting food and coffee! This place is definitely in the top two on our list of favorite coffee shops. The only complaint we have is the food is expensive, considering the port...ion size is very small, however like I said the food is very tasty! We give this place 5 stars. See More

My family and I came in for brunch today and we were all blown away by how yummy it was. I know the menu and chefs change, but I would highly recommend going when Chef Sam is cooking.

Pretty awesome Indy coffeeshop in Toledo! Foods decent, the Ohio Honey Lavender Latte was great (coulda been warmer) but the place is definitely worth stopping in.
Sadly I don't have a place like t...his within walking down in Cincinnati. See More

We had a great brunch experience today -- although it was very busy we were served quickly by polite, fantastic staff. Our food was great, and the chef made it a point to check in on everyone's meals.... Wonderful atmosphere and an excellent time. See More

Played cards with the kids while we waited for brunch. Oldest inhaled her bacon Nutella buckwheat pancakes and I loved the Cleveland Polish Boy. Great place for brunch, yummy snacks and solid coffee.

I just moved to the neighborhood and was hoping there would be a nice coffee shop near by. To my surprise, Black Kite Coffee is only .3 miles away, I can even walk to it! I tried it out for the first ...time today. I am super picky and specific about my coffee and I was very happy to say that A) they got my order correct and B) I didn't get the stink eye when began ordering my complicated latte . Jo was very sweet and we had a good convo about how great the place is. It had lots of reading materials and even some games that my daughter could play. I will DEFINITELY be back. Oh and I must add that the coffee was one of the best I've had in a LONG time! Thanks for your hospitality!! See More

I love everything about Black Kite. The staff is welcoming, they love Toledo, and are awesome with my crew of out of town picky eaters. I can't stop dreaming about the shrimp and grits I had. Pure heaven!
