“CALL TO ACTION: GOOD JOBS – KEEP US IN OUR HOMES! On Tuesday, July... 14, 11-12, Action for Equity will be convening an action to demonstrate the racial inequities in employment in some of our local industries and the negative impact caused by this injustice. While some industries were closed due to the pandemic, causing many people of color to lose their jobs, (some of those industries will not be coming back or at least at a reduced scale), some industries were actually thriving and hiring. These industries (tech, bio-tech, pharmaceutical, financial services) historically have not hired people of color, especially Black people. We are demanding that these companies meet with us to develop real pathways for hiring POC from our most impacted communities. Not only are these good paying jobs with benefits, they are also safe jobs. While many people of color, deemed essential workers (cleaners, bus drivers, health care, etc.) had to travel, sometimes in unsafe conditions, to go to work, the workers from the industries named above, were able to work from home. Enough is enough! Its time we get our fair share! We may be about to face the most massive eviction/foreclosure process in our modern history. A lot of this is due to the pandemic, but let’s face it, our communities were not doing great before then. With the rising cost of living, particularly shelter, and POC being tracked into low paying jobs, we were already fighting an uphill battle. We were already facing evictions and foreclosures! This is a call for better jobs, so we can create better conditions for ourselves! These industries are just the beginning. We need more affordable homes, but also more income so we can stay in them and save money! We need food security! We should not have to choose what bills we can pay this month and still have food on our tables! Enough is enough! Please join us in a day of action. We will gather in front of Vertex, 50 Northern Avenue (10 minutes from South Station) at 10:45. Will you join us?! What do we need? Three things. Is your group willing to sign on to this action? If so, please reply with your name and logo. Can you participate by sending 3-5 members? Can you make a sign or two about good jobs and/or staying in our homes? We will set up this demonstration in a safe distancing manner and be brief. Any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at 617-620-0025.” See More

BLM Boston and Say Her Name Collective https://www.shncollective.o...rg/ Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! First to the gifted, skillful, and generous local organizers who helped to make the Say Her Name March and vision come alive. Words cannot express our gratitude to all those who showed up for the #SayHerName March and showed up for Black womxn on yesterday. You showed up, an estimated 4000+ people strong! And we marched with strength and power! It was beautiful. Please visit the BLM Boston’s Say Her Name Collective website at https://www.shncollective.org/ and spend time with the faces, and stories of Black womxn: read, research, learn more. Lift up their names. We remember them. Support and donate directly to the organizations and individuals who remain... With Gratitude See More
