PATCHES IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
Patches hangs out in Dog Trainer Lou's office at Good Citizen Dog but is still waiting for his forever home. Thank you to BBBR Boarding Facility Coordinator Alicia for taking this great pic!
BBBR Volunteers Crystal and Dana say: Patches was great on his walk. He did his normal "buck" with excitement every now and again. I find that he actually walks better without his toy. I take it, but if he continues to drop it, I will put it in my coat so... he isn't preoccupied with it. He is such a cutie pie.
BBBR Volunteer Susan says:I walked Patches and he was an absolute angel. We walked past some dogs coming out of West Vet and while he looked toward them and dropped his toy he did not bark. I picked up his toy and waved it in his face redirecting his attention. He followed the toy. We did do this a couple of times, but he never pulled on the leash nor barked the whole time. This is a 100% improvement over last week when he saw some dogs over there. He is making so much progress and is an absolutely beautiful boy.
Thank you to BBBR Volunteer Brittany for spending time with him at Good Citizen Dog. Brittany says: It's been a very long time since I've walked Patches and he is an entirely different dog on leash at this point. He's always been pretty good once you got going and did great with walking next to you, but he would get very fixated on squirrels and birds. Now he walks right by your side, completely loose leash and is so much more focused on the walk and less about hoping to find a squirrel. Please contact BBBR Boarding Facility Coordinator Alicia at (TEXT ONLY) at 407 782-2999 or Dog Trainer Lou at 208 971-6229. Refer to https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/34989518 for additional information.
Brittany says: It was SO GREAT to see Patches again. Patches is one of my favorite BBBR hang out with buddies. He's a great guy to hang out with on the couch or running around outside. Patches loves to play with toys but will randomly decide it's time to tear one up, so it's always good to keep an eye on him. Patches is doing great living with Dog Trainer Lou and is working on socialization. He's doing such a great job! Patches is such loving and happy dog and is so excited to meet his future family.

And Nancy was her name! Found as a stray at just 2 years old, she has been living at West Valley Humane Society for almost a month. This gal is a big personal...ity, in tiny packaging. Nancy would love a family who will take her on walks, play with her in the yard, and keep her active. #boise #boiseidaho #blackdogsofinstagram #adoptdontshop #adopt #rescue #foster #savethemall #boisebullybreed #boisebullybreedrescue @ West Valley Humane Society

BBBR Volunteer Rob just couldn't resist sitting in the kennel with Gus and having his ears nibbled on!
GUS IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION OR FOSTER
Dog Trainer Robyn owner of CORE Canines had her first training session with Gus. Robyn says:
Gus's first session went very well. Our goals are :
1. Loose leash walking - tension on his leash increases his stress....
2. Impulse control - the ability to focus around people and other animals so that he can be safely placed in a home.
3. Self calming behaviors - decreasing his anxiety naturally on his own.
To work on these goals, Gus and I worked on creating value for being close to me and paying attention. By the end of our session I was rewarded with him healing next to me through turns, giving focus, and even maintaining his focus when we were near the distraction of smelling grass. He offered to go back into position on his own after a quick sniffing session.
We also started work on impulse control. He started learning that jumping when excited doesn't earn the reward he wanted and started running up to me and sitting.
To self calm and work more on impulse, we also started working on not mugging me for treats. This exercise caused him more frustration. I plan to reintroduce this idea in another way to give him more success and calm. We ended up abandoning that exercise. For more information about Gus PLEASE CONTACT BBBR Boarding Facility Coordinator Jennifer at 559 706-4226 or Dog Trainer Robyn at 208-576-1089 For additional information about Gus refer to: https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/37174183

UPDATE ON GUS FROM BBBR Social Media and Dog Assessment Coordinator ANNIE: There was an amazing difference in him this week! He is just coming out of his shell. He is so much more confident and inquisitive. This dog is so sweet and quiet. I just love him!!! The rain didn't even phase him.

Thank you to BBBR Volunteer Photographer Brittany and BBBR Volunteers Connor, Alyssa and Leslie.
for taking these stunning photo's.
Brittany says: Gus is one playful little man. He has a lot of pent up energy and wants nothing more than to play with his very own human! He is curious, energetic, gentle and incredibly goofy. He plays fetch, tug and loves to just run around.
Gus loves to have his back scratched and is very people-focused. Even when running around- he is always looking at you and making sure you're there. I think that he would do well in any home with someone who will make Gus their best friend. He already knows sit and with a little basic training, he will be such a smart and charismatic companion.
MEET GUS! He is a handsome 1 year old American Pit Bull Terrier mix who weighs 38.6 pounds. He found his way to the shelter as a stray and is looking forward to meeting his forever family. He goes potty outside, so this could be a good indicator of him being housetrained. He is a friendly boy and appears to be partially leash trained. He is still a young boy, so continue to reinforce his leash manners. He is just nice young dog who is longing for the love and stability of a forever home.

COW GIRL IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
BBBR Volunteer Dawna says: Here are some pictures we took today with Cowgirl. Today was a beautiful day and Cowgirl was so excited to get out of the house and enjoy the beautiful weather! She loaded up easily in my car and wanted to sit up front with me so she could check everything out and bathe in the warm sun! When we got to Good Citizen Dog Training she was happy to see old friends. Today we worked on walking on a leash and walking side ...by side with King, which she did with ease. We also worked on impulse control, down, sit, and a few other commands that she remembered from previous training sessions. She is such a calm and smart dog! So quiet and happy to just be out. She loves people and is always just trying to please. She will make a great family dog, and a best friend for life! Please refer to Cow Girl https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/36230644
