your your dress dress very very stylish stylish we're we're sitting sitting here here in in the the Middle Middle of of a a conversation conversation about about the the new new health health care care bill bill that that I'm um that that just just finally finally got got revealed revealed it to to the the senators senators in in the the Senate Senate and and and and those those of of you you in in the the House House who who are are waiting waiting for for as as well well um um your your thoughts thoughts on on the the on on the the the the new new build build at at the the reveal reveal that's that's right right have have opportunity opportunity to to see see this this is is a a lot lot of of commentary commentary um um a a lot lot of of discussion discussion this this are are taking taking place place on on the the deal deal people people that that even even character character right right did did as as meaner meaner being being eat eat in in contrast contrast to to the the bill bill that that the the House House that that you you decide decide it it um um I I know know that that it it negatively negatively impacts impacts on on New New Jersey Jersey and and will will lose lose something something like like almost almost 42000 42000 jobs jobs more more than than 500000 500000 of of people people who who have have medical medical wrap wrap care care right right now now will will be be negatively negatively impacted impacted anything anything possibly possibly lose lose their their will will will will lose lose their their health health parent parent some some point point this this is is very very uh uh problematic problematic from from hospitals hospitals and and all all these these ruffle ruffle with with charity charity care care it it will will gain gain please please our our charity charity there there and and you you your your easy easy probably probably is is one one of of the the States States that that in in terms terms of of economic economic bloom bloom is is probably probably going going to to uh uh grab grab his his book book damage damage more more than than uh uh the the majority majority of of the the other other speed speed so so it's it's not not good good for for New New Jersey Jersey it's it's not not good good for for jobs jobs a a gun gun to to raising raising big big for for health health care care for for those those who who need need it it into into a a habit habit and and it it should should not not be be predicated predicated on on how how much much money money you're you're always always welcome welcome now now well well well well cumbersome cumbersome and and uh uh thank thank you you for for your your perspective perspective uh uh and and Obama Obama care care certainly certainly did did predicated predicated subsidies subsidies based based on on how how much much you you made made it it it's it's up up with with the the threshold threshold for for subsidies subsidies at at 400 400 percent percent of of the the poverty poverty line line Republicans Republicans move move that that to to 350 350 percent percent of of the the poverty poverty line line and and that's that's eighty eighty thousand thousand dollars dollars for for family family of of four four you're you're still still getting getting sub sub cities cities and and eighty eighty thousand thousand dollars dollars for for family family forest forest 52 52 percent percent higher higher than than the the median median household household income income so so this this is is a a lot lot of of relatively relatively well-off well-off people people who who are are still still getting getting subsidies subsidies under under the the Republican Republican bill bill so so it it can can you you help help me me understand understand how how you you think think that that would would hurt hurt people people when when we're we're still still giving giving money money to to pretty pretty rich rich of of households households to to get get subsidies subsidies oh oh well well that's that's everyone everyone he he did did relative relative to to the the National National median median absolutely absolutely yes yes if if you're you're making making her her to to answer answer the the question question okay okay that's that's interesting interesting characterization characterization that that even even eighty eighty thousand thousand dollars dollars with with a a family family of of four four in in this this country country in in this this pie pie is is the the sense sense of of love love who who we're we're talking talking about about well well what what if if the the country's country's median median is is 52000 52000 and and it it is is right right here here which which is is been been voting voting and and increasing increasing the the wealth wealth of of billionaires billionaires and and we we can can have have this this discussion discussion about about whether whether or or not not you you should should be be 300 300 and and 50 50 percent percent of of property property or or or or making making percent percent of of poverty poverty and and have have attention attention span span subsidies subsidies to to health health care care because because even even with with the the subsidies subsidies are are we're we're at at 400 400 percent percent we we still still needed needed to to improve improve Obama Obama care care to to ensure ensure that that more more people people have have access access to to out out here here it it was was more more affordable affordable and and it it was was more more comprehensive comprehensive so so anything anything less less than than what what we we have have is is a a problematic problematic for for everyday everyday working working families families and and this this thing thing this this bill bill and and this this proposal proposal that that came came out out of of the the House House and and it's it's debated debated now now in in this this said said to to be be expanding expanding this this baby baby there there on on is is the the shit shit in in well well and and priority priority and and that that priority priority has has become become and and it's it's almost almost institutionalised institutionalised and and we we have have long long to to the the very very very very lovely lovely at at the the expense expense of of everybody everybody else else in in our our buyers buyers sure sure kinder kinder someone someone I I know know our our time time with with you you is is limited limited we we wanted wanted to to ask ask you you about about your your membership membership in in the the congressional congressional black black caucus caucus where where your your leader leader there there and and then then the the news news this this week week that that President President trump trump had had requested requested a a meeting meeting with with the the caucus caucus again again and and that that meeting meeting was was turned turned down down can can you you walk walk us us through through that that decision decision there there was was a a very very comprehensive comprehensive meeting meeting with with our our executive executive officers officers and and Don Don from from several several several several months months ago ago we we laid laid out out a a plan plan of of action action a a list list of of concerns concerns a hundred a hundred and and 30 30 years years so so he he was was um um information information that that said said these these are are the the policies policies that that were were concerned concerned with with these these are are proposals proposals that that negatively negatively affect affect our our communities communities and and these these are are the the things things that that will will advance advance equality equality of of opportunity opportunity and and I'm I'm services services we we heard heard nothing nothing very very nothing nothing in in response response to to those those something something didn't didn't eighteens eighteens so so we're we're not not interested interested in in having having social social chat chat with with a a President President who who administration administration daily daily on on nails nails policies policies proposals proposals executive executive orders orders or or other other things things that that negatively negatively impact impact African African American American people people my my already already people people in in the the great great for for people people working working class class people people Middle Middle class class people people any any everybody everybody but but those those people people see see to to represent represent his his priority priority with with your your White White nail nail and and well well well well come come see see my my name name I'm I'm sure sure that that Secretary Secretary Ben Ben carson carson would would absolutely absolutely disagree disagree with with that that characterization characterization would would you you be be willing willing to to meet meet with with Secretary Secretary carson carson instead instead I I would would be be willing willing to to meet meet with with with with Secretary Secretary carson carson if if you you wanna wanna do do discuss discuss something something ticket ticket issues issues he he doesn't doesn't seem seem to to operate operate from from a a basis basis of of knowledge knowledge of of what what it's it's like like to to be be black black in in America America what what I I mean mean hit hit me me time time and and I'm I'm not not only only and and I I mean mean does does not not represent represent this this sort sort core core value value systems systems or or concerns concerns better better expressed expressed throughout throughout the the black black community community whether whether you're you're a a well well people people are are the the black black community community of of building building as as part part of of the the back back community community young young part part cold cold part part so so sure sure I I mean mean I I would would meet meet with with him him maybe maybe like like to to me me but but I'd I'd like like to to have have something something to to discussions discussions about about show show I I will will maybe maybe we we can can have have got got stuck stuck in in an an elevator elevator somewhere somewhere anything anything you you know know what what maybe maybe we we can can have have you you mumble mumble Tv Tv and and you you can can join join us us and and we'll we'll have have a a dog dog I I would would love love to to have have a a conversation conversation with with him him of of mine mine maybe maybe I'm I'm wishing wishing necessarily necessarily productive productive to to have have it it on on yeah yeah well well I'm I'm you you some some of of the the the the things things you've you've been been talking talking about about kinda kinda bring bring up up a a question question for for me me as as as as Democrat Democrat who who um um obviously obviously watch watch the the Georgia Georgia special special election election this this past past week week with with with with some some degree degree of of disappointment disappointment um um the the the the resistance resistance and and the the decision decision of of the the Democratic Democratic party party or or the the decision decision the the Democratic Democratic party party has has to to make make about about how how to to respond respond to to this this particular particular President President and and what what I I think think is is some some incredibly incredibly ineffective ineffective leadership leadership um um I I wasn't wasn't really really effective effective for for us us in in Georgia Georgia this this week week I I think think we we all all may may be be mistakenly mistakenly called called a a referendum referendum on on the the this this presidency presidency and and that that ended ended up up not not working working out out the the way way we'd we'd hoped hoped it it would would um um they they are are certainly certainly still still within within the the Democratic Democratic party party this this argument argument between between what what the the best best path path forward forward is is and and there's there's been been a a lot lot of of them them there's there's been been a a lot lot of of talk talk in in the the last last week week since since that that George George election election about about the the current current state state of of leadership leadership in in the the House House uh uh there's there's been been a a few few people people who who have have called called a a few few more more people people this this time time around around who who have have called called for for Nancy Nancy pelosi pelosi to to to to be be replaced replaced as as the the leader leader in in the the House House what what are are your your feelings feelings on on uh uh the the path path forward forward for for Democrats Democrats if if that that particular particular strategy strategy and and Georgia Georgia didn't didn't work work and and whether whether or or not not um um leader leader pelosi pelosi is is the the person person to to lead lead us us into into 20 20 eighteen eighteen so so I I don't don't think think that that this this President President has has appointed appointed a a very very qualified qualified people people to to his his cabin cabin even even those those that that are are coming coming out out of of the the Congress Congress to to take take these these positions positions but but I I would would tell tell you you that that is is cherry cherry pick pick them them out out all all the the very very Red Red uh uh will will be be read read our our Republican Republican districts districts that that have have a a history history a a legacy legacy of of electing electing Republican Republican so so I I am am disappointed disappointed that that Mr Mr owes owes off off getting getting when when I'm I'm disappointed disappointed then then there there had had to to be be that that much much money money um um used used in in this this collection collection but but it it doesn't doesn't surprise surprise me me they they didn't didn't win win in in a a district district that that is is some some Republican Republican and and as as far far as as leadership leadership is is cancer cancer our our leadership leadership is is in in place place until until we we have have the the next next our our selection selection among among our our doctors doctors and and I I think think that that people people don't don't understand understand the the complexities complexities of of the the leadership leadership here here and and the the challenges challenges that that we we are are we we are are facing facing I I think think that that considering considering this this environment environment in in which which we we are are operating operating our our leadership leadership is is keeping keeping our our coffees coffees together together and and strong strong and and focus focus but but is is it it was was not not the the message message but but we we talk talk about about the the message message a a little little bit bit I I think think that that perhaps perhaps read read to to drill drill down down our our message message a a little little bit bit and and have have a a conversation conversation face face to to face face because because at at the the end end of of the the day day I I think think difference difference between between the the Republican Republican control control down down here here and and you you see see and and the the Democratic Democratic aspirations aspirations so so we we will will get get understand understand that that we we represent represent everybody everybody we we want want everybody everybody to to have have access access to to big big jobs jobs good good public public education education state state neighborhoods neighborhoods good good housing housing affordable affordable housing housing a a healthcare healthcare absolutely absolutely healthcare healthcare and and decent decent bag bag we we wanna wanna make make sure sure that that wherever wherever you you live live your your breathing breathing clean clean air air and and drinking drinking I I breakable breakable water water everything everything I I just just talk talk to to them them representing representing at at 10 10 this this is is what what this this Congress Congress has has been been doing doing down down here here and and with with this this President President has has been been advancing advancing our our leadership leadership is is keeping keeping us us engage engage relevant relevant and and focus focus or or where where we we go go look look at at mad mad props props and and give give you you mad mad props props for for that that answer answer because because you you didn't didn't quite quite answer answer whether whether or or not not she she would would support support guys guys leader leader pelosi pelosi I I mean mean yeah yeah course course she's she's in in place place until until the the next next election election by by August August but but did did you you support support needed needed for for there's there's no no question question that that I'm I'm sorry sorry play play the the thing thing they they appropriate appropriate question question is is do do I I support support her her would would you you vote vote for for who who would would you you vote vote for for her her on on election election would would you you vote vote for for an an optional optional okay okay you you even even be be interested interested in in the the position position at at the the time time we we go go to to our our midterm midterm elections elections and and when when that that time time comes comes that that is is a a time time when when I I will will be be considering considering where where I I should should be be in in this this issue issue so so if if that's that's something something that that sounds sounds that's that's very very that's that's well well thank thank you you very very much much representative representative coleman coleman we we know know you
