My husband and I are staying in Steubenville while our son is best man for his friend in a nearby to...wn. We are from upstate NY currently but both originally from NYC. I spent my teen and young adult years in ancient used bookstores in Manhattan and grew to be most comfortable when I was digging through dusty, obscure volumes.
Bookmarx was a welcome Oasis for us. We had decided to go for a drive to look at some of the remaining architecture in downtown Steubenville and after checking out a few murals and the Masonic Temple we found Peter and his incredibly familiar and comfortable establishment. The books were well categorized, the variety was great, the prices made me feel like I was a thief and Peters friendly and welcoming demeanor made me not want to leave.
I highly recommend a visit (or 5 or 6 visits) when you are in the area. There is something for every taste and budget. And his cat is awesome too.
