The Boston Young Marines celebrate the life of PFC Becket Kiernan, former Southern New England Regiment Young Marine Sergeant Major. Marine PFC Kiernan died Feb. 5, 2018 from a rare flesh-

Young Marines who applied for 2018 SPACES events are now moved into the pending status. Notifications to those who were accepted were sent by YM National Headquarters and you are now able to compete the applicant process. Remember, all applications must be complete by Feb. 15, 2018 to reserve the event that was selected. If you have questions, please contact the unit commander.


The Boston Young Marines is proud to announce the graduation of recruit training class 1-17 on February 15, 2018. To those who have met the requirements and who will become Young Marines, congratulations.

Boston Young Marines are hauling home the hardware from the Southern New England Regimental Encampment! The Boston Young Marines were the core of the 3rd Battalion team that won top overall unit at the encampment. Congratulations to the 3rd Battalion units Boston Young Marines, Blackstone Valley Young Marines, and Old Colony Young Marines in your five trophies and all the effort displayed by you at this great event.

The unit has several Young Marines attending national SPACES events and leadership schools this month. The unit is excited to welcome home its Young Marines and have them share these stories with the staff and others. In August, the unit prepares to attend the Regimental Encampment in Connecticut. In September, the unit will open enrollment for a brand new recruit class. These are exciting times.

An award-winning combat cameraman and last Marine connected to the Iwo Jima flag raising photo died Saturday.

Norm Hatch, a Marine Corps combat cameraman who played a direct role in the famous Iwo Jima flag raising photo, died Saturday at the age of 96.
