Read the BNC's Omar Barghouti in the Independent today. The struggles of vulnerable communities in the U.S. are intertwined with the Palestinian struggle for a just and equitable future.

"As Israel becomes more openly associated with the rising far-right around the world, particularly in the United States and Europe, and as it is more widely considered to be among the “belligerently intolerant, faith-driven ethno-states,” more people, grassroots movements, and progressive institutions will feel the moral imperative to join in efforts like BDS as the most effective form of solidarity with Palestinian rights and as one of the facets of the growing global resistance to the far-right."

When President Donald Trump receives his most ardent fan, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, at the White House later today, many Palestinians will be deeply worried.

Yesterday, Palestinian human rights defenders launched a #BoycottHyundai campaign, urging “people of conscience worldwide” to boycott the company's products until it ends its complicity in Israel’s “ethnic cleansing of Palestinian communities in Jerusalem and the Naqab.”

This call for boycott and solidarity comes in response to the extensive use of Hyundai machinery by Israeli authorities to demolish homes belonging to Palestinian citizens of Israel.

The children below were p...hotographed just days before more Hyundai bulldozers came to demolish the rest of their homes and village of Umm al-Hiran. They held signs saying, "Let's Boycott Hyundai".

This #BoycottHyundai campaign is launched by the BDS Committee of Palestinian Citizens of Israel (BDS48), a newly-formed group founded by Palestinian citizens of Israel. Their campaign is the first such Palestinian-led BDS campaign for corporate responsibility launched from within Israel, specifically focusing on Israeli violations of Palestinian rights beyond the 1967 occupied Palestinian territory.

Sign this letter to demand that FIFA, the governing body of world football, give the red card to Israeli racism: bdsmovement.net/RedCardIsrael

The chairman of the FIFA Monitoring Committee Israel-Palestine is about to submit a report to FIFA’s president and council about improving the conditions of Palestinian football. As the council deliberates, this is our time to act. Let’s urge FIFA to demand that Israel’s national football league drop its teams based in illegal Israeli settlements built on stolen Palestinian land, or face suspension from FIFA.

#FIFA, Don’t Whitewash Israeli Racism. #RedCardIsrael, stand up to #Apartheid. #BDS

Good news! In Belgium, 482 professors and researchers, and more than 190 artists, have written an open letter calling on their authorities to withdraw from participating in a European Union funded research project called LAW TRAIN, in which Belgium and Spain cooperate with the Israeli National Police. The project, aimed at developing joint interrogation methods, is coordinated by an Israeli university with particularly deep ties to Israel’s army and notorious security services.

Portuguese civil society successfully pressured their authorities to withdraw from LAW TRAIN in July 2016 – marking the first time a government withdrew from an EU funded project following civil society pressure in support of Palestinian rights. Belgium civil society aims to achieve the same.

Belgian police has confirmed that it intends to question former Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni at her arrival in Brussels today for suspected war crimes. Livni is listed as a speaker at a European Parliament event taking place later today. However it is no longer clear whether Livni will participate in the event as her name has been removed from the official event website.

Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) is a Palestinian-led movement for freedom, justice and equality. BDS upholds the simple principle that Palestinians are entitled to the same rights as the rest of humanity.

Today, as tens of thousands of people in the United States prepare to protest Trump’s inauguration and his racist, hateful and dangerous politics, we at the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC) express solidarity with all vulnerable communities who stand to face the brunt of his administration’s violence and bigotry. We know that together we can, and must, create a much kinder future — one that guarantees freedom, justice and equality for all... people, irrespective of identity.

The photo below is not a hopeful one. The xenophobic and racist far-right around the world is banding together. So must we, the rest of humanity that cannot afford to wait for their fatal policies to destroy our world. Soon, the streets of Washington DC and cities beyond will fill with a colorful assortment of demonstrators and dreamers, with the many who are in fact intent on building something hopeful and joyous. It is alongside them that we too will build for racial, social, economic, gender and climate justice—for a life that is worth living.
