Yesterday Braxton’s school held their Athletics Carnival. It was a great day with plenty of activities for the kids to participate in to earn points for their house team. The morning was filled with team activities like egg and spoon race, kick a ball into the net (Braxton successfully got one in), tug of war (Braxton’s team came second) and plenty more. Braxton had help from his teachers and parents to complete the activities because his co-ordination made it difficult for him to do but he gave it his best. The older students who ran the activities were so encouraging towards Braxton, they let him have more attempts to get a point or let him take one more step closer to shoot the ball through the hole or throw the hoop over the target. Next came the individual 60m race for his age group. With encouragement from his parents and a helping hand from an older student Braxton raced against his peers. We are so proud of him for completing the race, he did have a break in between the race but he still finished the race. It was great to see the students, teachers and parents cheering Braxton on. The activities and race isn’t easy for Braxton and it can be hard for him to do. There are times he wants to quit or not give it a go because he thinks he can’t do it or he will come last but we will always be there to support him, hold his hand and cheer him on. Good work Braxton!!!

Some days the little steps are the hardest. But in time little steps lead to great success. Very proud moment today, Brax was able to finally catch a ball while sitting down. Small steps lead to great success, hopefully with lots more therapy and practice he might be able to catch a ball while standing. Brax has trouble tracking/following items and then at the same time he has to think while trying to complete the task . The video was taken at the very end of the tasks but the catches he was doing before we started filming were perfection. Previous times his reactions were a lot slower/delayed. To think 9 months ago Brax was not able to walk or do anything but now everyday he amazes us. His therapy today was one of the best we've seen, he was smashing his tasks.

A lovely family friend of ours nominated Braxton for the Starlight Children’s Foundation and he was accepted. If Braxton could have one wish it would be to meet Captain America from Avengers. We think for the past 5 years since watching his first Avengers he’s been his favourite superhero and no other superhero can top him . However the wish can only be granted within Australia so we’re hoping he can do something else that can top it. We’ve had some suggestions which have been fantastic but we’d thought we’d ask for suggestions. So if you think there’s something that he might love to do or see please suggest!!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We have been pretty quiet on Braxton’s Fight page as we have been dealing with a lot and just wanted to process everything in our own time and put our son and family first.
Last update we shared with you all was roughly October last year when we received a phone call from Dr Teo’s office asking us to come down to talk about surgery.
We flew down and spoke to Dr Teo. It had been a good while since we last Dr Teo and he couldn’t believe how well Braxton looked considering the…

“Their laughter will make your heart melt
Their strength will make a grown person cry
If you ever see a child fight cancer, it will change your life forever”

Today marks 6 years since our son Braxton was diagnosed with brain cancer. What a journey he has been on. When your child is told that they have cancer you can never predict what the future may bring, all you can do is support them and try to make the best decisions for them. There has been many times where we’ve had to make the hardest decisions not knowing what may come next but all we want is for Braxton to have a chance at life.

It still breaks our hearts what he has been through and what the future may bring but nothing compared to how proud we are of him.

He just amazes us how he takes each day in his stride and continues to live life like a normal 7 year old. He has his daily struggles but he doesn’t know any different. Braxton has shown us what true courage, determination and strength is.

We know that brain cancer is the number one killing cancer and that it kills more children then any other cancer. We know how very lucky we are to have Braxton still with us, knowing the statistics.

Thank you Braxton for being such a brave fighter so we can still have you with us. Thank you all for your support because without you as well, Braxton wouldn’t be here with us.
