Brentwood is an excellent library. Their meeting room is great for other libraries to meet in for in-services and their staff is very helpful.

World-class library. When I go with my kids, we love perusing the children's area. The computers are up-to-date and the decor is incredible. There are small toys to keep young ones busy for long enoug...h to make a grocery list or catch up on important emails. On the occasion I'm kid-free, I love to go into the Brentwood Room (ultra quiet) to work on my laptop or just enjoy the silence with the beautiful wooded view outside the large windows. Did I mention you can rent from thousands of DVDs, CDs, and video games? I really love having the Brentwood Library as my local library. See More

The Middle Tn Genealogical Society has their annual seminar at Brentwood Libray in November. I had attended every year until the last couple when I am no longer able to go. It is a great place, ...they met other places for a long time, but most were unsuitable, once was on bleachers with no backs, once in a gym with no heat and other places. This is the best place ever. The library is nice and big. It has good number of tables and chairs, as well as desks. Their tables has lamps and sockets to plug your device. They also have wide selection of books and references. M...ost of the staff are nice and friendly. However, I would say this is one of the noisiest library I've ever been. People just talk loud, laugh and chat as though they aren't in a library, some staff do, too. I understand some things are out of their control. Like children crying, shouting, yelling. People talking on the phone and not putting their phone in silent mode . Silence and quietness is really lacking. Other than that, its a really great place . See More

Pals Forever - Memoirs Of A Labrador In His Own Words: By Richard L. Hamilton. Available at

You talk to your dog, and most of the time it responds with obedience or with curious gestures when it does not understand you. Your dog is there by your side when you need somebody to listen. Oh, if your dog could only talk to you. In Pals Forever, here is a black Labrador that does talk to you.

You are fortunate if at some point in your life you have a pet that you can call your friend, and doubly fortunate if the pet can call you a friend. “Spadie Boy” was that kind of dog. In Pals Forever, he tells his story in his own words. Perhaps his recollections will cause you to reflect on the fond memories of your dog, or of a dog that was once your best friend, and to reflect on those long ago memories of you being his best friend. Join a black Labrador on his journey, and be reminded of the simple pleasures of raking leaves, only to play in the pile, and taking long walks just to see what might be stirring in the woods, or hunting upland game birds on a colorful warm autumn day. If you are not already convinced that having a dog will make you a better person, Spade will convince you.

Sean L. Hamilton’s illustrations are a distinguishing feature of the book. His artistic renderings display thematic captions that will draw you into the two-dozen narratives of Spade’s life.

“Genascent: The Human Genome Project in Plain Words” By C.J. Canna
This book was written for thoughtful members of the public. Many fields brush up against this science, finance, law, food, internatio...nal relations, medicine, everything from agriculture thru zoology. It is what a logical person might want to know before using or investing in the science. The book includes … journal articles in common language… the ethical and legal questions ... funny medical research stories that tell something about the science or show something about the research environment.

The author has written a trilogy of movie scripts named “Genascent: Footprints in Time” which tells the story of genetics from Gregor Mendel through 1993; “Genascent II: the Living Code” covering the start-up through the completion of the sequence; and “Genascent III: So It Is Written” showing the impact the Genome has had in fighting disease. The stories in this book could not be fit into the movies.
