While our pool will be out of commission this summer, there are still opportunities city wide for anyone who aspires to be a lifeguard. In this recruitment video, lifeguard Sean Devlin, who worked the last four summers at Bridesburg, explains why he wanted to be a lifeguard. My Daughter takes my Grandson Zachary to the rec. He loves the new playground
and all the activities you offer.. He especially loves the Santa in Dec.. He's going to be 3 soon and will be spending ev...en more time there as he gets older.. Thanks for having such a great place for our boy!!! PS.. I've done Zumba classes there too and had a ball with my Daughter.. I need to get back soon to keep in shape..
I gave 3 stars mainly for accessibil
ity. I came yesterday to see my nephew swim for his swim team. I have 2 little ones so I had them in a double stroller. I went up the ramp in the front to be told I... couldn't go through the building I had to go up the side steps. Well I can't lift a double stroller with 2 little ones in it.... luckily my nephew came out to help me. Need to be able to access things with stroller and wheel chairs...I saw someone have to carry a child that was wheel bound and then carry his chair up...
rec center is a staple to our great neighborho od.the staff and volunteers are very compassion ate. they really do a great job! When i walk in the bridesburg rec it fells like home to me.... Thank you all for always making the Chrupcala family feel welcome when we come there.
Love the rec and the staff. My daughter goes to their pre k program and loves it. My son went there as well and loves. Perfect place for our youth to go to even just to play some ball. Their holiday s...pecials are always fun and very family friendly. Thank you ms Jackie and staff for being there and doing all that you do for everyone.

I want to thank all those who helped put together the children's
Christmas show yesterday. Two of my great granddaugh ters were in the toddler group. You all do such a wonderful job. We have had fou...r generation s starting with my husband and myself who all have memories of great times at the Rec. Again thank you to all the staff and volunteers who make this place a safe and fun place for the children of Bridesburg .
In May, I spoke with Ms Laura regarding my son's peanut allergy. I was told they could accommodat
e him in the Tot Program so I registered him. I was sure to write ALL OVER his paperwork that he had a ...peanut allergy. At the meet and greet 3 weeks ago I spoke with Ms. Tina, Ms. Viola and Ms. Karen. We went over things he could and couldn't have and I even offered to supply replacemen t snacks. All I asked was to ask parents not to send items with peanuts or peanut butter. I even offered to generate the letter myself. All seemed great. My son attended the first 2 weeks of school. Today, I was stopped (at drop off, not really sure why I wasn't called or stopped prior) and told my son could not be kept safe there. I'm not really sure of anywhere that guarantees 100% safety for any child. I am also not sure what changed since Thursday but I am appalled! To deny a child attendance to a public program due to a medical condition is a disgrace. I'm more annoyed that they waited until OCTOBER to address this after he was registered in May and I have had several conversati ons with staff regarding this issue. My daughter attended the program for 3 years, as well as numerous family members and friends and I'm saddened to end our relationsh ip on this note. I think it's time to educate your staff on allergies and take the necessary steps to make the environmen t as safe as possible for ALL children not just for the children that it's convenient to do so. Part of educating children is to make accommodat ions. Imagine the teaching opportunit ies that have now been missed: allergy awareness, difference s, compassion , etc. Thanks to your lack of knowledge regarding allergies, I am having a difficult time finding another place my for my son since you waited so long to decide he couldn't be kept safe there. Please direct me to someone I can speak to regarding this.
John McBride and team did a wonderful job. Thanks again
I 100%love Bridesburg
Recreation Center! I think every rec center should try to be like bridesburg rec. My daughter attended there preschool program as well as their dance programs. My daughter wasn't... the only one to dance on there stage from our family. My cousins did, and happy to say so have I. (Years ago!) I thought it was wonderful seeing my daughter dance across the same stage as I danced acrossed years before she was born. And it was nice being able to show my daughter some of the same staff members from when I was on Bridesburg 's stage. My uncle knew many of the staff members (Miss. Jackie) as well. So being able to share that moment through generation s, was a priceless moment that I'm happy to be a part of! Not to mention how many times I ran across there field playing sports, or swimming in the pool. (That I'm thankful that I was able to show to my children. Even after officials had to choose what philadelph ia rec centers would NOT have there pools filled due to funding cutts. Some philadelph ia recreation centers where even closed down because of funding issues! Due to Bridesburg being a tight nit community they are still going strong year after year! And hopefully many more years to come!

My children are grown now, but when they were young they attended pre-school
and dance class and soccer. I think we tend to take a great Recreation Center in our neighborho od for granted. Many neighbo...rhoods in Philadelph ia have nothing like this. Luckily for our kids Miss Jackie and all the teachers & coaches are very caring and dedicated to the neighborho od's children. Keep up the great work!!
I love bridesburg
.. I love miss Jackie .. And I love everything they do for the kids and the people of bbg ... Bbg is # 1 in Phila by far the best and safest place to let your kids go ..

It is with great pride, and a bit of a pleasant surprise, that the Bridesburg Pool is given the green light to open one day early! We will be open for free swim at 1pm today (Friday, June 30th). We really have to thank the concrete workers, painters, and plumbers from Parks and Recreation who did tremendous work this work to make this possible. Also, a great job by our in house pool Maintenance staff as well. Thank you for your patience, and we are glad to open one day earlier then anticipated.
This is an idea and short video series created by Back2Ninety9 Productions for Parks and Recreation. The series is about interviewing Philadelphia lifeguards...
