My son and I were driving around the beautiful Columbia River gorge and stopped in here late on a Sa...turday afternoon in March. We were struck by how clean the place was and by the beautiful displays of several varieties of salmon filets. It was still in its early stages of opening and did not yet have sit-down or take-out hot meals, but they did have smoked salmon of all types. We got about 16 oz. of smoked sockeye salmon that we put on the center console of the rental Impala and picked at it to our hearts' content, complemented by Tillamook cheddar and shelled hazelnut chasers. You might get some smoked fish of this quality along the northern shores of Lake Superior, but to me this was the best smoked salmon I've ever tasted. Before deciding on the sockeye, the very friendly lady behind the counter offered us samples of a handful of other smoked salmon varieties. This place has tremendous smoked salmon, believe me.
