It would seem that a lot of online companies are doing everything possible to keep me from giving them my money.

Newegg lost a sale today. It wound up going to Amazon.
Cafepress almost lost a sale. And they would have if I didn't need those business cards so much and theirs weren't so nice and stupidly cheap.
Now, Squarespace is trying valiantly to make me choose another company.

...

What is wrong with these companies and what is going on in the heads of their web design teams?

Walking home tonight, I couldn't help but notice every single thing that was touched by a human.
With each I saw, my mind ran with the multitude of people that were involved in it's creation. I saw the number of people who had used it. I thought of the number of people who had looked at it and thought about it. I thought of all the people that came before it's creation; before even it's invention.

I thought of the people who sat on the city council and voted for or against the funding that paid for that new street curb.
I thought of why those people voted the way they voted about that street curb.
I thought of the districts in town that they each, personally, represent; and the quality of the curbs in their respective districts.
I thought of the people who were handed the new city council proclamation, who had to process all the paperwork that turns tax payer dollars into a real creation.
I thought of the people who might have grumbled at difference the tax increase made on their personal checks.

I thought of the people who first created, two thousand years ago or so, the first cement.

I thought of the person who mixed the cement.
I thought of the people who spread and smoothed the cement.
i thought of the person who created the mold that shaped the rounded edges of the concrete.
I thought of the person who first created a mold; no idea how many centuries ago that was.

I thought of the crew as a group, and their personal interactions, and the managers of the crew and their bosses' bosses.
I thought of the employees, thinking about their lives and their problems and triumphs.

I thought of the future people who, while walking will have to cross the street to avoid the city employees who are tearing up the old concrete; the concrete I was looking at.
I thought of the future people who will live in this area, if anyone still does live in this area, looking at the concrete I was looking at, thinking just how ancient and ignorant we all were.

I thought of the possible future person who will be walking home from a bar very similar to the bar I was walking home from, to possibly the same house I am writing this in, looking at a mass of concrete and thinking about all the exact same things that I have listed.

Everything I saw, every little part of everything I saw, every angle of every part of everything I saw, every dime spent on creating everything I saw; in every one I saw the hand of a human.

In every one I saw a multitude of lives.

That's art.

I am what I am.
I like what I like.
I do what I do.
And even if I never have children, or get married, or teach a class, or smooth concrete, my life will have repercussions—repercussions that last longer than a person will live.
And so will yours.

I have gotten a lot of compliments on my work here. I can't always say thanks to every comment. So, I just want to take this moment to let you all know I very much appreciate it.

Thank you!
Keith

I'm pretty close to having a page on Patreon set up.
When this is done, anyone who wants to become a patron of my work will be able to.
The way the page is set up, you will be able to donate any amount you want on a per month cycle. This is recurring, however you have the option to stop at any time.
If you do decide to become a patron and the amount you decide to give is fifteen* dollars or more, you will receive some cool stuff in return.
Rewards, so far, include postcards, ...art prints, song downloads of Mr. S, BCS throw pillows and tote bags, and posters.
I will be posting more specific and detailed information when I get the page done, hopefully within the next week.

[*This amount may change. I am still in the process of working out my rewards.]

This is my main art medium, graphite powder. And this is also mostly from my "Light" series. There are more of these as well and I am currently searching for them.

I don't know what I'm doing, any more than any one else.
And that includes you .
