GHPBA Members: I wanted to express my appreciation to all who attended our annual meeting Thursday evening at Buster's in Sun City. A special thank-you to Harry Dawson for hosting us and preparing an excellent meal for those who came early. Thanks also to Eric Ward for giving us many suggestions concerning fire proofing our residences/farmsteads. For those members who were unable to attend, I wanted to remind you that dues are $50 this year. Please make your check payabl...e to "GHPBA" and mail to our secretary/treasurer, Lori Jones, 18546 SW Crazy Horse, Lake City, KS 67071. As mentioned at the annual meeting, the dues increase is to generate some dollars to assist in the maintenance of the equipment the Association is accumulating for prescribed burning.
If you were absent from the meeting, but plan to burn in 2018 (if we get rain), please email me with number of acres, preferred date, and preferred wind direction. Again, thanks to all who attended Thursday night. I head counted over 40 in attendance. Stay warm this weekend. T. Carr
The Gyp Hills Prescribed Burn Association will hold its Annual Meeting Thursday, February 8th, at Buster's in Sun City, KS. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m., but come early for food and fellowship. Harry Dawson is going to open at 6:00 p.m. for those who would like to eat prior to the meeting. Eric Ward of the Kansas Forest Service will be our guest speaker. Meeting agenda items include business updates, Board election (two new members), and 2018 prescribe burn schedule. Remember our annual dues for 2018 will be $50 per member. Please bring a neighbor or friend that may be interested in prescribed burning. I look forward to seeing everyone on February 8th. Sincerely, Tom Carr
Come enjoy live music from the Adam Capps Band this Friday at Buster's!!
These once common structures and the hole underneath them have been in the news a lot lately...Buster's was famous for its two "out in the back" out houses that have been since replaced with the convenience and political correctness of indoor plumbing!
Despite the "Giverment Shutdown"....today might be a good time to come have a hot brisket sandwich, fresh outta the smoker and some Ricky Fugitt music at the Western Whitehouse in downtown Sun City, Kansas.
We will see what happens together by Monday!
Come join us New Year's Eve....bring your coat, it's going to be cold! Be safe and Happy New Year!
We forgot to mention that Cecil "The Diesel" Hancock, Barber County's favorite Australian will be playing tonight as well!
Christmas Parties.....at some holiday gatherings people wear lampshades and beer boxes on their heads. At this recent holiday sheep and goat gathering, net wrap seemed to be the headgear of choice. Come to Sun City this weekend, where the party never ends!
