We had a fire last night in which a family of three just made it out in time. They were extremely lucky due to the fact that there were ZERO smoke alarms in th...e home. That's right ZERO. Please check your home TODAY to make sure that you have the proper number of WORKING smoke alarms--one on each level (including the basement).
If you don't, call 236-5249 to set up an appointment to have us install FREE detectors and batteries.
Lets's not have another near tragedy.
Dive operations will resume for another day today, from the 9th Street Boat Landing in Menasha. We again ask for everyone's patience and cooperation to keep away from this area.

MEN USE DUMMY TO LURE WOMAN: In North Carolina, two men placed a dummy in the middle of the road to lure an unsuspecting driver for a carjacking. A woman took... the bait, but just as the men ran up to her car and tried to open the doors after she'd stopped, she hit the gas. They still haven't caught the guys.
My silver 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan, license 399VZU, was stolen from my driveway at 743 West 10th Avenue in Oshkosh at aroun...d 3 a.m. Sunday, January 22nd.
. The drivers side tail light was broken and other body damage occurred when the thief hit and damaged the side of my home backing out of my driveway.
The Oshkosh Police found my van on the north side of Oshkosh around 9:30 AM. My first knowledge that my van was stolen was when someone called my house this morning around 8 o'clock AM. He has found my checkbook on the corner of Linde and Washington by Menominee park at 6:30 AM. I found other items from my glove box in Menominee Park the thief had thrown out on the road. The police are now examining and finger printing the van.
I am offering a 250 dollar reward for information that leads to arrest and conviction of the criminal (s) responsible for this.
Please call or text 9204200662 or email@example.com
I got my van back, with a fair amount of body damage from where they hit the house stealing it. Because it was recovered within 24 hours it is supposedly just a misdemeanor so no fingerprints were taken!!!!
I am a small business landlord. To respond to repairs quickly I kept my apartment keys in my van. Most are missing. They are labeled but just with house numbers not street address. Will be major pain and expense to replace and change locks!!!!!! 2 garage door openers were also taken. The van was found at 820 Grove Street out of gas. If anyone finds any keys with just a tag with a number on them please let me know here or by firstname.lastname@example.org Any info that leads to catching these criminals will be rewarded. The drivers seat was all the way forward so probably a not full grown teenage boy or small adult. A shorter stature person with a bright red hat was seen in my driveway by a neighbor about the time the van was stolen.
Deputy Burns would like to identify and speak to these individuals. Can anyone help us out? Call us at 236-7300. Case # 17-0006.

PSA - This is the 1st snowfall of the year and the Wisconsin State Patrol has already lost a cruiser. This is my cruiser and I was in it at the time of the cra...sh protecting another crash scene. I sustained minor injuries, but will live to serve another day without permanent/life altering affects. Other Trooper's have not been so lucky, losing limbs (Wisconsin Trooper Justin Hansen, Crash 01/26/14) or and/or their life (Colorado Trooper Cody Donahue, EOW 11/25/16).
It is not that difficult for the motoring public to travel at a reduced speed during inclement weather and/or to move over for emergency vehicles on the roadway as they are working. By the way, it is a Wisconsin Law to move over and slow down for maintenance vehicles, emergency vehicles, and tow vehicles(etc).
