Southeast Louisiana Underwater Search and Recovery

Update:

We searched the area where Mark Matherne's boat was sunk on Sunday. A very large area was scanned with the Kongsberg Mesothech scanning sonar with the ...assistance of Jason Ellis.

Ned Davis Swampland Search & Rescue also worked the area with HRD K9.

We were supported (boat) by Justin Blythe and another man (forgive me but I forgot his name) from Cajun Navy Relief.

We also observed large fishing vessels dragging their wing nets across the area were were searching.

We did not locate Mr Matherne by the end of the day. The bottom of the waterway was very clean and the most likely area was scanned thoroughly. We even got into the oyster reefs where it is very shallow.

It is our hope that new information will present itself so that Mr Matherne can be located.

Attached are some photos from the search as well as some sonar images showing the bottom of the waterway at 75'-120' out.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr Matherne's loved ones.
