This is a wonderful zoo for all ages. I was so impressed at how well kept and healthy all of the animals were and how clean the grounds are. There are wide paths around the zoo which makes getting aro...und easy and the animals can all be seen from different vantage points, so if one spot is crowded you can easily move to another spot and get a look up close. All of the employees were helpful and polite and my family had a wonderful experience. Thank you Caldwell Zoo! See More

We had a fabulous time! Weather was perfect (not too hot), so we got to see all the animals which were very active. The kids loved feeding the giraffes and birds. The zoo was exquisitely maintained a...nd clean. The staff were all friendly and helpful when inquiring about the animals.
We’ve been to many zoos, and for a smaller zoo, they had a lot of different kinds of animals. Reasonably priced, as well!

I have been too zoos all over this great nation, and I was pleasantly surprised by the Caldwell Zoo, especially considering how reasonable the ticket prices are! Don't miss the Wild Bird Walk-About, i...t was the absolute favorite exhibit for the children AND adults in our party. Beautiful grounds, well-kept animals and spacious habitats makes Caldwell Zoo a lovely place to spend an afternoon with family. See More

I had a GREAT atone there and was so excited to see all the animals and reptiles and just everything!!! But I’m sorry I have to say the animals looked so stressed out and like they’re anxiety was real... high....maybe it’s just me but they looked very sad and stressed....my opinion but it was very nice my kids had a good time thanks to Martins Mill school See More

The Caldwell Zoo is by far the best family activity in NE Texas or the Arklatex. The new giraffe and elephant habitats are outstanding and the variety of animals is very nice. The zoo is affordable, w...alkable and small enough to not be overwhelming to children. One of my daughter's first words was "zoo" and she still asks to go at least twice a week. Thanks in no small part to the Caldwell Zoo, she has learned a love of animals that is reflected in her kindness and care toward them whenever she encounters then. See More

A great zoo! Big enough to spend a day leisurely enjoying the exhibits, but not exhaustingly large! Because it is a smaller zoo, there are more opportunities for unique experiences! For instance, one ...slow afternoon a zoo keeper offered to take my kids and I inside the lions building. It was an experience we will never forget! Also, the members evening is fantastic! We love going behind the scenes and the employees are informative and so patient with all our questions. I also took my girl scout troop here for a bug workshop to earn their insect patch. It was really fun and a great learning experience. We love Caldwell Zoo! See More

Always a fun trip to the zoo! They have made several improvements over the years and we don’t mind paying to tour. The best part was the giraffe section where you get to be up close and feed them. Super cool.

I took my 12 year old son this past Sunday. Thank you so much for offering the phone book pass! What an awesome thing for us!! My favorite has always been the reptile house, ever since I was a little ...girl. But the giraffe attraction has now won my heart! I fell in love with it and my son and I had so much fun feeding the giraffe!! Absolutely awesome!! See More

I first came here in 2013 when I was on vacation from California and visiting my boyfriend. We just did the boo at the zoo yesterday and the kids had a blast! Great zoo and very nice staff!

What a waste of money!!! There were hardly any animals! The animals that were there looked extremely malnourished and sad! We were in and out of the zoo within an hour and a half! Way overpriced! Will... never be back! See More

Had a great time visiting the zoo! All of the new additions were great and we loved feeding the giraffe! We went early in the day, so most of the animals were out and some were being fed (which was ed...ucational for our niece). The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Overall, a great time and I definitely recommend feeding the birds (it's a bit overwhelming at first, but they settle down). See More

We visited on 1/18/16. More than half the zoo is closed off, cafe is closed, several exhibits are closed, there are very few animals. Most of the trails were blocked off. You walk all the way around t...he zoo, then backtrack to go out. So, it's like walking around the zoo twice, just to get out. They should have at least left an opening at the end of the trial so you can walk to the front without having to backtrack the entire trail. It wouldn't have been so bad to backtrack if there had actually been something to see. If 50%, or more, of the zoo is closed down, then the admission should be half-price. All of the flower beds/landscaping were dead and needed cleaned up. Lastly, it stinks! They need to clean the cages more often, including the Plexiglas viewing areas (so dirty you can't see thru them). Once all of the construction is complete, the exhibits actually have animals in them, cages are cleaned, and the landscaping/flower beds are cleaned up, then it will be a nice zoo. *note* No firearms allowed- concealed or open carry. We went last weekend, half the zoo was closed off, no water only cokes, no food stands open, it took like a few hours to walk what wasn't closed off, the snake/reptile was disastrous! Running into pe...ople, it was pitch black needs a few more lights too see! I know zoos smell but it was overwhelming in certain areas, hardly any animals to view as well, first time visiting, wasn't worth the trip. See More

I have come to this zoo for over 35 years now with my children and grandchildren. It can be covered in about 3 hours, but we usually take 6 or 7. It is very clean and the employees are friendly and se...em to care very much about the animals and don't mind chatting with you to educate on their section. See More

Have been coming to this zoo for 20 years. I absolutely love it. Never had a bad experience here. Takes about 2 hours to see everything. Which is perfect when you have a toddler in tow!

Took my grandsons here many times. I am disabled so the paths and the size can be covered in one afternoon. Come early when it's cooler. The animals are more active then.

I love the zoo. I even worked there for awhile. The best deal is to be a member and you get to see some of the behind the scenes stuff and other special events they have once a month.

Amphibian: a cold-blooded vertebrate animal of a class that comprises the frogs, toads, newts, and salamanders. They are distinguished by having an aquatic gill-breathing larval stage followed (typically) by a terrestrial lung-breathing adult stage

Example: Frogs, the most well known type of amphibian, are known for growing from a tadpole into an adult frog.
