What's the first thing you should do? If you have a regular mechanic that you have used and trust, by all means, take heed.
However, in some instances, it's a good idea to get a second opinion.
...Here's an example: It's time to winterize your car so one thing you want to check is the car battery. Most auto parts stores offer free battery checks. So we hustled over to our local auto parts store to check out the battery. According to their reader, the battery was unstable. Time to get a new battery.
But wait, let's double check this. So we decided to go to another auto parts store. Guess what. The battery according to their reader was in good condition.
Perhaps we should get a 3rd?
The moral of the story: Don't be afraid to get a second opinion and when you're doing routine maintenance be prepared for the outcome.
