What a marvelous experience to be part of such collective creative energy. There were no walls here - writers, agents, students, and volunteers mingled seamlessly. I came away richer, better connect...ed to my work, and surprisingly energized. Thanks to Teri and her amazing crew for putting this together so beautifully, and for letting me be a part of it. As a new writer it was inspiring to attend your conference. Your guest speakers were varied, engaging and each one was approachable. I walked away full of inspiration and practical tools to help me na...vigate the often confusing world of writing and publishing. I look forward to attending again next year. See More

Awesome variety of writing topics from poetry to screenwriting to memoir to young adult and more! Deliciously catered lunch, friendly staff and amazing instructors. Loved the Saturday night soiree. Th...e panelists did a fabulous job of organically engaging in a conversation that felt both intimate and audience-inclusive. Book fair dovetailed nicely with the conference and I enjoyed participating in the non-fiction panel brilliantly moderated by Janice. A+ to new director Teri Bayus for taking risks and freshening up content and staff. :) See More

I've been to 3 writing conferences and this one was by far, the best. The highlight for me was meeting and casually chatting with published authors. The participants were also so fun-loving and inte...rested in each other. It made for some lively conversations that informed and inspired. My favorite breakouts were the ones with overheads, handouts and a steady stream of information. Eldonna Edwards on "Truth be Told" comes to mind and Linda Perret on "Starting and Finishing Your Non-Fiction Book". Wish I could have attended many more. Next time for the fun of it, will check out the screen writing blocks. Not just writers but anyone who reads would enjoy this conference. Thanks! See More

I was most involved in the Book and Author Fair on Sunday and was overwhelmed with the talent that was there. I am anxious to read the many interesting books I purchased at the fair. I was not able to... attend the panels, but my husband said they were excellent and that Jan K could easily be a professional moderator! See More

Our Mary - giving back and helping. #LoveHer #LoveHerBooks

Mary Weber, Author

I woke this morning from a dream in which my kids had been taken along with others, years ago - & for a moment I’d seen a glimpse of them in a crowd. I ran for ...them & ended up alone on a street, screaming out “I love you” just so they could hear my voice.
Good grief, what a dream. And my mama heart - I’m still shaking!
And yet, it seems unbelievably appropriate considering this post that I’d already written for today. Because, you guys, it is my heart. 💙
As many of you know, the issue of human trafficking is a passion for Peter & I. Our eldest is working overseas with trafficked victims this year - & while not at all graphic (it’s aliens & adventure, hello), I wrote THE EVAPORATION OF SOFI SNOW & RECLAIMING SHILO SNOW to open up the compassion conversation & share my heart on what I believe we can be as a human community.
So here’s the deal. 💙
In the past Peter & I have donated royalties from STORM SIREN, made private donations, etc, to A21 & others. However, this time we really wanted to utilize the tools we have, to raise as broad an awareness as possible. We also very much want to honor you, our dear readers (we love you!), & give back in YOUR names.
With that in mind, Peter & I are personally running an A21 campaign for the next 2 weeks - & have committed to a number of items.
(1) We’re donating a dollar in the name of each person who's ordered RECLAIMING SHILO SNOW (anytime in the past up until its release in 2 weeks on March 6th)*. If you order it - you can send your name & screenshot of the receipt to the email, & we'll make a donation in your name to A21. This is our gift to you.
(2) If you'd rather forego the book but still want to donate to A21 - we'd love to send you something! Just email a screenshot of your donation receipt, full name, & mailing address to the above listed email, & we'll get some swag out to you.
(3) If you simply want to make a donation to A21 without the extras, please do! And thank you so much!
Truly, thank you. For believing that we can all make a difference.💙😘
All the fine details are on my A21 Page - the link is here:…/m…/reclaiming-shilo-snows-a21-campaign…
From our hearts to yours - THANK YOU. We love you. Let’s keep raising our voices!!! 💙

can I please just spend an entire day here?

To my lovely literary friends:

I’m asking for your help to spread the word about an upcoming writing retreat I’m leading in Italy, that needs more participants. It is pricey, I know, but if they can swing it, they won’t be disappointed. And when you break it down to all that is included, it’s a good deal for all that you get. (The free wine alone might be worth it, let alone the van trips, the art, the to-die-for food…) Oh, and it includes me, up close and personal. There wil...l be no more than 12 participants, and quite possibly there will be fewer.

This is nominally a poetry retreat, and we will be reading and discussing some poems together. But I think it would work for prose writers, as well, who could easily adapt the writing prompts we’ll be doing, and could share their work on the days reserved for that. I’ll also be available for individual consultations on projects they have underway, or for whatever writing they do while we’re at La Romita.

So here goes, and thanks if you can help; if not, I totally understand and love you to death anyway.

2 Week Poetry Retreat in Italy with Kim Addonizio–National Book Award Finalist, author of 13 books (6 poetry collections, 2 novels, 2 short story collections, a memoir-in-essays, and 2 books on writing poetry)

June 4-18, 2018

Everything but airfare is included: Room, amazing food and wine, trips to surrounding hill towns and literary sites, group and individual feedback. Once you are at La Romita, a former monastery in the Umbrian hills, there’s nothing to do but read, write, enjoy, and occasionally stop to look at each other and say,”I’m so happy right now.”

A recent inspirational story:

“Hi Teri,

My name is Diane, and I have attended the CCWC for the past 2 years. Although I had been writing my book (a humorous adult memoir about raising my boys) for about 10 years, I had stalled and was stuck. I had pretty much given up on my book ever being published; and then in 2016 I found your conference. Each year, the CCWC gave me the inspiration and motivation to continue to work hard, and I am so excited to tell you that my book will published by this summer! I wanted you to know the impact the conference had on me, and how it really did change my life. Thank you for all that you do.

See you this fall at the CCWC!
