Mayor Toni Harp pledged the City's support for Chapel Haven's expansion, joined by Chapel Haven's Board Chair, Peggy Rock Baker, and Chapel Haven President Michael Storz at Chapel Haven's Family Day Brunch.
Our final speaker today generated a standing ovation. Great job by Justin Martin, who summed up what Chapel Haven is all about. He talked about gaining the life skills he needed to live independently in the Chapel Haven community and how proud he is to be able to take the train home to NYC to visit his Mom and Dad. "When I graduated the REACH program in 2014, I was nervous and needed my teacher’s help to make me feel better but now I don’t need any help at all," he said to standing-room only applause. Great job, Justin!
More scenes from today's Chapel Haven Family Day Brunch! Thank you to all the staff who volunteered to help out today, to our wonderful families and to our adults for making this such an exciting and joyous day!
Every year at Chapel Haven's Family Weekend brunch, adults who have lived independently in Chapel Haven's supported living community for 30-plus years are honored with a special award. This year, the honorees were David Frank, Mary Beth Jacobs and Jonathan Stent. We offer warmest congrats to all three on this amazing milestone!
A historic day for Chapel Haven as our 400-plus families, friends and staff celebrated Chapel Haven's ambitious campus expansion. Plans for a new aging services facility, a full campus renovation and the launching of Chapel Haven's new Center for Employment, generated much excitement! Thanks to Mayor Toni Harp, Ben Florsheim of U.S. Sen. Christopher Murphy's office and the many who spoke so eloquently at the podium today about Chapel Haven's ability to change lives!

Happy Friday. Here is some final sage advice from Adam B., reflecting on his one-year Project PAVE internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital: “To the future PAVE class, I hope you gain new experience working here and obtain new people skills. If you have a question, ask your coworkers. Good luck next year."
“The advice I’d have to give to incoming students is that it will be a good experience and you will get stronger work skills that will help you get a good job in the future.” Thanks to Jon G. for his advice to future volunteers at Yale-New Haven Hospital and congrats on your graduation from Chapel Haven's Project PAVE.
