On June 28, 2020, the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office responded... to Coon Creek Road in the Pageland area of Chesterfield County in reference to a drive-by shooting incident with no one injured. While en-route to the area, Deputy Reichard noticed a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Deputy Reichard attempted to stop the vehicle, and the vehicle turned onto Dogwood Circle where the six occupants fled the vehicle. One of the male suspects pointed what appeared to be an assault rifle at Deputy Reichard. Deputies were called to assist with setting up a perimeter and the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office bloodhound team was also called in for tracking. They were successful in tracking Avory McManus, 30 years old. McManus was taken into custody without incident.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division bloodhound team was also called to assist with tracking. The bloodhound team was successful in tracking Alexander Blakeney, 30 years old. Blakeney was taken into custody without incident.
During the course of the bloodhound teams tracking, a 10mm, a 45 caliber, and two AR15 rifles were recovered. After running the serial numbers, the guns came back to several gun dealerships out of North Carolina, where they were reported stolen. The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office is working with Union County Sheriff’s Office.
McManus has been charged with Attempted Murder, Pointing and Presenting a Firearm, Possession of Stolen Weapon, and other weapon charges. Blakeney is charged with Possession of Stolen Goods and Failure to Stop for a Blue Light. Both individuals are currently being held at the Chesterfield County Detention Center.
Sheriff James Dixon would like to thank the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) for their assistance in the apprehension of two individuals and the recovery of stolen guns.
