CPD Video Series Presents: Juanita Johnson, trailblazer.
Juanita Johnson has been with the Chicago Police Department for the last 44 years. She served 23 years as a sworn officer, starting her career in 1973 as a Policewoman in the Youth Division. In 1981 she was promoted to Sergeant. In 1984 she won the Franklin M. Kreml Leadership Award from The Traffic Institute Northwestern University. Retired from sworn duty in 1996, Johnson has been working as a civilian in the Bur...eau of Organized Crime for the last 21 years. She is also an M.B.A. and a C.P.A.
Johnson joined the department before women were allowed to work patrol and has been an integral component in the progression of women in law enforcement. We thank her for setting the standard of professionalism high, and for her continued service to the city.
