My family moved to Montevallo when I was 13 and in 7th grade. Finished school here and have lived here ever since. All 3 of my children went to school here. The only school they ever went to. I am 70 I love everything about our town. The only thing I will have to get used to is the parallel parking. I learned how before drivers test and can still do it, but haven't had to in a long while. I think it will be awesome when it is completed. Thanks for all the hard work to all involved! See More

Although my Husband moved us, to just over the Shelby Chilton line, on Highway 155, I am and always have been, in Montevallo and claim it as my Home town. I was born by the creek at the old Albright p...lace, out from Moore's Cross roads. I am the person who read that Johnathan Horton was a blacksmith in 1817, and relayed that message that the sign of 1848 was possibly wrong. The Hortons helped to establish Montevallo. Although not promenate, or wealthy enough, to mention in History , they were never the less, quiet builders of America and our home town. The people were all about helping each other and offering their homes to passers by while front porch gatherings were constant. Farms were green with crops , not weeds. Christmas was family not presents. Dinners were lectures and laughter not silence from ear plugs and phones. Bible reading according to Bertha Gay Horton Raspberry Coffer was a nightly ritual which she said, " taught a body more than the schools did." Montevallo is forever planted in our hearts and minds as Home. See More

Absolutely love living here. There's so much character in this little city. It's got a lot of growing to do, but there's a lot of great people already putting in the work to build it up and continue t...o make improvements. It's a fantastic place to call home. See More

Restrooms at Orr Park are disgusting! Hand dryer doesn't work, no soap dispenser, floor looks like it hasn't seen a broom or mop in ages, and it smells terrible!
