For special education students and the educators who teach them, the individualized education program or IEP plays a major role in ensuring specific educational goals are met, taking into account each student’s individual needs.

The National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) says each student’s IEP must be a truly individual document, not a “cookie-cutter” document that’s been “tweaked” simply by changing the name or other general information. According to the NCLD, “Th...e IEP creates an opportunity for teachers, parents, school administrators, related services personnel and students (when appropriate) to work together to improve educational results for children with disabilities. The IEP is the cornerstone of a quality education for each child with a disability.”

The details matter

IEPs can be highly detailed documents, and failing to translate these documents properly can leave the student without needed resources in addition to leaving the school district open to potential litigation for failing to adhere to the IEP’s guidelines. That means having a complete and correct translation is critical to everyone involved – the student, the parents, the educators, counselors and support personnel, and the district itself.

How City Gate can help

At City Gate Language Services, we understand the crucial nature of both the IEP and the IEP translation process. Our translators are skilled not just in the mechanics of translation, but also in the nuances of semantics and meaning, which means you can feel confident you’ll receive an IEP translation that accurately reflects the students’ needs and the programs that will be put in place to meet those needs.

We offer translations in more than 140 languages, and our service provides quick turnaround time so students’ needs can be met without the delays that are characteristic of many translation services.
