A reminder to our residents this year regarding Halloween: Haunted Hamstead is canceled this year. Police and CERT teams will not be in the area to assist with traffic control. The City along with LA County strongly discourages trick-or-treating this year due to COVID-19.
Kanan roadwork update:
After completing excavation of southbound Kanan at Canwood, saturated soils were observed. Soil cannot be compacted when it is wet, so staff quickly engaged with geotechnical consultants to engineer a new section.
The solution will be placing filter fabric, followed by a layer of “float stone”, and another layer of fabric before placing and compacting the base. This will allow the required compaction below the asphalt.
...Unfortunately this will delay the completion of the southbound lane to later this evening. It is anticipated that the work will be completed tonight. Traffic is slow at times but still flowing, please avoid the traffic if possible.
