Staff is rude and harrassing, I called to get some sort of understanding of a situation and as soon as I said we show and responsibly breed dogs, all respect went out the window. The officer I was ca...lmly talking to and asking questions of started raising her voice at me. I had to remind her that I was not a child and that she should not be raising her voice at me when I have done nothing wrong. The day that the dogs licences expire they come out to our property, look over our 8ft fence and cite us for not having our licences up to date. See More

After spending several hours at the Plano Shelter looking at beautiful furbabies, we didn't connect with our next family member. We went to Allen's shelter - and were surprised they only had 4 furbab...ies available for adoption. We were blessed that the PERFECT dog was waiting there for us. Sam is a wonderful blessing to our family. The staff was beyond helpful and we were completely surprised at the "goody bag" they sent home with us. If you see negative comments about the staff - I can only say that it wasn't not our experience. We found everyone very helpful, nice and professional. And so much better than the staff at the Plano Shelter - who were a tad Pissy See More

Bruce Danger Stallone, formerly known as "Hank", is still a complete TREASURE. He had some problems, which I knew, but has come so far and he's such a happy, good puppy! I couldn't be happier that we ...found him and he found us. He's loving being a spoiled baby. I can't thank the staff and personnel involved at this shelter enough! See More

I have had encounters on all fronts with the Allen Animal Shelter.

6 years ago, my Jack Russell mix got out and was picked up by staff. We posted signs all over the neighborhood that same night and b...y 10am the next morning I received a call from shelter staff that they had picked up a dog matching her description. Sure enough, it was her and we were reunited.

Last September, after losing our Jack Russell mix over the summer, we adopted our Border Collie mix. We visited and played with her every day for a week and adopted her on Friday. The staff was helpful and kind through the entire process and provided us with a leash, some toys, and a small bag of food when we took her home.

A few months later, two German shepherds were loose in our with no tags and some of the school kids brought them to my house. Late in the afternoon I decided I could no longer hold them in my yard and took them to the shelter. One of the staff recognized the dogs and rather than putting them into a kennel and incurring a $150 fee for the owner, called them and connected me with them to return them to their home. I felt they went the extra mile to spare the owner the expense of having their dog stay at the shelter.

All around a great facility with knowledgeable and helpful staff.

This was a great experience for my kids to know they can help make a difference in an animals life and we could spend time as a family doing good for others in need. They loved taking the dogs out an...d playing with them and seeing how happy they could make them by simply throwing a ball. See More

I adopted my sweet little boy from here this month! He's a Maltipoo and the absolute love of my life. I am so grateful for this shelter uniting me with my new best friend. My only issue is the fact he was very dirty/grimy when I got him. But at the same time, I can understand the chaos that comes with running a shelter and how the staff may not have time to have the animals looking their 100% best. But anyway, he's clean, well-fed, and loved now so I have no issues. :) Thank you for all that you guys do for these animals! See More

Update: just got our second dog from here today. The staff at the Shelter are busy, but everyone is very friendly, professional, and courteous. They were very knowledgeable about each adoptable dog cu...rrently in their care. Our second dog-rescue experience has been phenomenal and I highly recommend looking for your next pet here; they don't have a ton of dogs right now but they have some sweeties available. Well done to the staff there, keep up the good work you're doing!

Called the Animal Shelter after a stray showed up at our house. No one ever claimed him, so today we were able to make him officially our own. The Allen Animal Shelter people have been phenomenal; from the initial quick pick up at our home, to the moment we left with our new furr baby today. The only thing I would change is for them to be able to take adoption payment over the phone, with a credit card, since my sister in CA wanted to do this as a Christmas gift for my kids. But otherwise this was a terrific experience and I would highly recommend the Allen Shelter to anyone. Our sweet new dog seems to be very happy in his furrever home and he is the best Christmas present! Well done, Shelter employees, keep up the good work.

My daughter and I drop by once a week, at least, just to visit since we already have 4 rescue animals.

We are always welcomed with a smile and hold, play and take out the animals. ...

We love on all those sweet babies and the staff is great to let us anytime!

This shelter is staffed with friendly, caring, animal lovers who have the best interest of the animals at heart. It is immaculate in it's cleanliness and each area for the dog is bright and spacious ...and on the various days I have visited I have never seen animal waste in the enclosures. They have soft music playing for the dogs and there is NO constant barking unless someone comes to remove a dog for visitation or a trip to exercise in the wonderful outdoor play and visitation area. High marks for a City Shelter indeed! See More

Rude staff. Laugh at people. Make people wait. Laugh at people who call in to help animals or show up to help the animals. Contact me via facebook if you need help. And this is the reason why the...y are the way they are. Their supervisor, Jimmie Davidson, used to be Patrol Supervisor for a long long time. And he is not much better. And here is their own posting: Animal Control Division and Shelter and for as long as cops kill a whole bunch of dogs per hour in this country and not be counted responsible for murder for no reason and supervise animal shelters, we will have the same problem:
The Animal Control Division of the Allen Police Department works to protect citizens from issues related to pets, wildlife and livestock. Services include rabies prevention, animal bite investigation, education on responsible pet ownership, animal adoption,...... And before they took off my first review, here is what Caroline Power Hibner wrote to me about this place: Hello, my name is Caroline. I live in Allen. I found a stray and u said u had advice. I hate this shelter and want the abuse to stop! I'm in dog rescue and they treated me like crap! Made me feel dirty and ugly. U said we cld reach out to u. My cel. I have a stray and I need to leave a found poster at shelter

I was at the shelter this afternoon with my husband. I was very pleased to see such a clean environment for the fur babies and the caregivers are exceptional. They give their heart and soul to care fo...r these animals. They all are deserving of a safe and loving FOREVER home. We have lived in Allen for 33 years and we have had many encounters with the people over the years at the Allen City Shelter and have never had a bad experience. Want to thank you for all you do. I recently adopted a kitten we took him home to find out that he had fleas so after we had taken care of that a week or so had went by and I started to come up with small red spots which at first the said it could be psoriasis but it got worse and was extremely itchy, later on I found out that it's ringworm!! My whole family is now infected including the our cat we already had. I've been speaking to people that have volunteered at the shelter to found out that they also had caught ringworm from this place. Please be aware that ringworm is highly contagious if left untreated. See More
If you are looking for a new addition to your family, stop by the shelter and take a look at these sweet babies and many more.
These are just a few of the many animals available for adoption at the shelter. Stop by tomorrow from 10am to 4pm and take a new fur-baby home with you. Also just a reminder the shelter will be closed Sunday 9-6 and Monday 9-7.
Somebody is excited to see the vet today! Hopefully Stacy gets the all clear!

Twin Oaks Prvt School added 3 new photos — at City of Allen Animal Shelter.

We raised donations for our local Animal Shelter and our prekindergarten students dropped them off on a field trip yesterday! They had a wonderful tour of the facility, learned what the Animal Shelter's purpose is, and even got to meet some friendly animals! #learninginaction #TOPS

Thank you everyone at Twin Oaks Prvt School for all the wonderful donations.
