Thank you for tuning in as usual to our Corona virus daily updates appreciate you for tuning in. That's for sure. we need this information to get out so if you can you know find a way to to get it out the people we love for you to do that as well so keep tuning in appreciate you. thank you. I wanna start this update today. I wanna tell you why don't you check out and I don't know what religion you practice but to check out TD Jakes on quarantine you should listen to what he has to say. I thought it was a very very enlightening video. he talked about quarantining as a human being not not as a as a Minister. and you know, maybe we need to appeal to people that I need to talk to you and that is the. resident of the city of North American man when family in this community ah to you know so I know lot of us don't wanna do things because people are telling us so not do them ah but then we doing things because we would tell us to do right we have a figure out who we should listen to me should listen to what I am tell you know no matter what's happening they got open up the state they have states all around the country we need to do is best for your family there was best for yourself there is best for your help listen if somebody to That you had to stop doing everything you love for one year, but for two and 20 years after that, you can do everything you love or if you did everything you love in one year. The next 20 years will be gone, which one would you choose And so many of us are choosing to do everything We love in one year in the next 20 years to be gone, you you're taking your life into your own hands cuz this is an invisible killer. We don't know who's gonna get how it's gonna affect people who's gonna die. at what rate they're gonna die, we don't know this information right. We don't know what people ask me. When is the time to open up all we can do is give you marks a point where we think it's a good time to begin open it up. We really don't know you know the cases in Georgia started to spike up. I mean listen there are places in the country that are not experiencing the same level of cases that we're experiencing in this place is in the state that are not experiencing the same levels of cases that we're experiencing and newer. and it's no fault of your own. There's no fault of of of of where you live. You know the viruses has been more prevalent in this densely populated areas, particularly one close to New York. You got new-york Y'all Connecticut's in New Jersey. you know, and so then the areas that are more prone to this virus in other areas right so I was on the phone the US Conference of Mayors today and they're talking about opening up pools and summer camp for children. We're not there yet y'all We don't live in in the areas with 10 people get in the. At a time we opened up, we if we open up the pool on lies and Leslie, it's gonna be 50 to 60 kids in that pool easily not counting the adults that will be there and the lifeguards and the workers right. If we open up the JFK pool, it's gonna be hundreds of people in that pool. we have to figure this out but we have to take our time and do this and and be considerate about the people who actually live here and who can actually get this. so you know just as a regular person as a human being as a man in this town, it's. Born and raised who lived here, I'm concerned about myself. my family, my extended family, my friends and you should be concerned about your family. your extended family and friends. you should be calling them and checking on them and tell them to stay in the House. I mean a lot of incidents all over this country where we see and we start to witness the frustration people coming outside the police confrontations. Sometimes police will go way above and beyond and overboard. you know and do a little too much, but you know the other side of it. We really need to. not be congregating, we should not be outside. We should not be we should not be in groups. the other day. I see the guys they're shaking hands and doing the high fives and all that like we normally do like everything is right. Everything is not regulated. You shouldn't be doing that so just as a regular person man, I just want you all to take care of your family. Take care of your community. Be concerned about your life and your livelihood if you have to give up a year for 20 to give up a year for 20 you about one year for 20 years, you don't have to go to the parties this year you go to next year and you have that the party's not going the club is not going away your favorite restaurant. It's not. It's not going anywhere at all. You can't not do it here for 20 days 30 days. Come on Y'all. Listen we we we We're stronger than this-we're stronger than this. It's strong. We're strong in this we can we can stay in the House and and and social distance and deal with this little pain that we have to take the pain of going through this is not gonna be the same as the pain of watching your relatives Die all alone in the hospital will have to say goodbye to it to them to zoom or social media right or. People go home and their living room a bedroom because there's no more space in the hospital. It's it's not good. You'll also we have to be able to take this immediate an initial pain and the pain is not that great. isn't it the immediate pain so we could long a life and and and and live better and have a great opportunity for ourselves and our family. just this little bit you know and and and so many times I'm I'm thinking that this is this is a test for all of us man. It's a test for all of us all of our resolve all of our patients all about discipline. It's a test for. To maintain, I'm just this is our Noah moment man. I know a moment an opportunity to get it right man. It's an opportunity to get it right and some of us are missing this opportunity completely. We're focus on things we should be focused on arguing about stuff that's completely irrelevant. talking about things that don't matter right. So at the end of the day, this is I know a moment of opportunity to get it right to clean the slate and start again right to to fix the environment to to to do with any. To make sure people get health care to make sure people have food to eat. This is our chance to get it right man to save our lives. This is opportunity it's opportunity when did you ever in the history think that the schools will be canceled for the entire year and that you have to be home all the time you're complaining about the schools and how they treat your children. Now, you gotta teach your own children in your own House right so we have to figure it out and so we would never imagine we would be in this situation. This is a Noah moment. This is the. myself is what you gonna do at this moment of history what are you doing in this moment of history right what do you doing at this time for yourself for your family for your community where you doing when you wake up the next day are you are about it things that I relevant are you making people outside ah are you having house parties or inviting people to events are you seriously doing here in the cold salon with clothes listen Is your moment your opportunity? This is a test for all of us man. It's as a human being. That's what I believe I believe this is Ras Barra not as the mayor of the city. I believe this as Ras Barra as a human being as as an African-American in this city born and raised this is what I believe I believe this is our opportunity to straighten it all out the opportunity to straighten it all out right and so we have to no matter what I tell you what the state tells you what the federal government tells you that they're gonna open up and not open up. You have to make a decision for your own family. You have to make a decision. friend So you have to make a decision for your own family here you know, so let's get it done. Here's our cases in Newark. we have 6114 positive cases. We have 6114 cases yesterday, we had 5965, so it's an increase of 49 cases increase of 49 cases. It's not bad. We have 50 with up, then we went back down to 50 to 4950. We have to stay consistent. Have to keep each new cases have to keep going down, so that's not a bad number. It's not a bad number. We just have to consistently sustain that over a period of weeks and and the great thing about the number is that we've increased the amount of testing we've increased testing. We're gonna continue to increase testing so our numbers should rise. we we in terms of that but it the great thing is that we wanna keep the number low and that's good. so today we have 460 deaths yesterday we had 450 - three which means that we. Seven people seven additional people who have died in the 20 - four hour period. It's it's it's it's really sad when I have to say this is a low number seven people dying in 24 hours is a low number means that we are in a terrible place. Y'all seven people died, and it is a low number for us and we rejoicing when seven people only seven which means we're in a horrible horrible horrible horrible period and. Just my condolences to the 460 families in the city of North who have lost a loved one from this virus, man my condolences, my prayers, my thoughts to your family. cuz I know you had a funeral that your whole family couldn't attend. I know that arrangements were what you anticipate. what expected. I know that nine times out of 10. they died in the hospital and you weren't there. You didn't get the opportunity to go like when my father passed. They called me up my mother called me on the phone and I was able to get to the hospital, Beth Israel and be in a room with him. people who had died of Corona virus nobody's gonna call them and nobody's gonna tell them to come to the hospital that their family are gonna die in the hospital amongst strangers right so my condolences and my prayers and my thoughts nobody could imagine being in that situation. your wife, your mother, your son, your your your daughter passing away in the hospital and you can't beat it. This is. Bad or or create a funeral like you will send them off in a respectful and honorable and my condolences to everybody. man. That's County 15053 positive cases with a hundred and 1349 deaths, New Jersey hundred and 30 - 1008 hundred and 90 cases with eight thousand 549 deaths more than three point five million people around the globe with 250000 deaths, one point two million in the US with 73000. 69 depths One point two million in the United States. We have more cases in the US than any other place in the world. I want you to pause for a second and think about the US right think about Donald Trump the whole Make America great again this whole atmosphere. We're in with the US being the epicenter of this virus Do you know that the United States has the greatest concentration of doctors and scientists than any other place in the world and Engineers has the strongest most. Military industrial complex than any other place in the world, probably has the highest concentration of wealth and resources than any other place in the world. and we are getting beat by this virus greater in places like India now China Germany you know places in South America and Africa we can we get in they do a better job at fighting this virus that we are here in this place as a matter of fact, there are more african-american. Kids who are dead from the Corona virus then countries. Do you understand what I'm telling you they're more African-Americans in America who died from the Corona virus, then all of the people who died and and and and Wuhan and in the when I first started at more African-Americans, they're they're more African Americans who've died from corners that they're more than a dozen. Around the world right that means something y'all and we have to take a good look at what's what's going on here? You know this is not the virus. that's beating us. The virus is beating us in the system is helping it beat us. let's go over this zip codes. 07102. We have 210 positive cases 07103 712 positive 07104 1228 positive cases 071 And 71 positive cases also 106 650 cases 071 - o - seven 990 - one positive cases 0718 511 positive cases 4712 507 positive cases 47114 230 - six positive cases by zip code in terms of deaths also 10220 - 1071038040710490207105. 207106509071 - o - 750707108 57 0712404071419 Today we started testing a branch Brook Park skating rink. we tested well over 200 people today, probably close to 300. it was a great day. We get not only had driving we walked through. We're the only testing site probably in the County maybe. In the state that allow people to walk through the testing site, not just drive through that you actually can walk through the testing site. The one at Branch Park is for folks who have insurance Medicaid Medicare as well as for folks who have insurance. If they tell you wanna follow you have to pay do not go there any money you do not have to pay that is for your insurance and listen you pay for your insurance anyway, so you might as well, go there and get the test what your insurance cuz there's no co-pay. There's no payment for treatment. You might as well. go there. Register and get tested right we we're at 24 homeless shelter. we tested we tested that Seto in today, we tested it back to the elderly today. again we're testing to see is they're homeless and folks with you know and if you have insurance, we set up a site so you can go through probably by next week. we'll we're gonna open up a site. our next site. we'll probably be at the Springfield Avenue movie Theater CityPlex in the parking lot. we're gonna we're gonna start. Testing in anybody even if you don't have insurance and you asymptomatic meaning you don't have any symptoms, but you are around people who may who may have tested positive and you wanna come and get tested. We're open it up a site for that with folks that don't have symptoms and may not have insurance, but I urge you if you do have insurance go to the places where they set a insurance that because you're saving the city money you're saving the County money when you do that because you. Have to go to the site that had that the insurance it takes all the insurance to go there and do it there if you don't have insurance and if you ayn at it you can come to the one that we're gonna set up, probably a Springfield Avenue parking lot in the movie theater there so I wanna thank I say Barra family Shaquille O 'neal for allowing us to do that there but that that is gonna open up pretty soon and we're gonna be expanding that as as often as much as we can there are over 287000 residents in the city of Newark do we. In all, honestly, I don't believe we're gonna be able to test each and every resident in the city cuz we still have the resources to the federal government is able to and activate the Defense Production Act and make sure that everybody gets tested. We're gonna be testing those folks who we think need to be tested. first, the the most vulnerable the folks that are sick right those are the people who are first and then everybody else. after that. so be patient, it's coming. it's coming. So don't don't worry, it's not gonna take months. We're gonna start you in weeks so be patient. It's it's it's coming and we need you to get tested and once you test positive, have the quarantine yourself. So who Dist don't go outside and you can't go outside with a just don't go outside at all. that's that's important. Y'all The food relief program so on this live we we're gonna start giving out 1000 meals a week. so if you know a senior citizen or a family in need a family in need, y'all a family in need and a senior citizen, you can put up on a live that you know somebody you have to address the phone or whatever it is put it up. our folks are looking at this. They wanna extrapolate that information they're gonna pull it down and Get to put it on the list so they can go and service folks who are families who need help. We'll see is that need help. We're gonna start giving out food. So on this Facebook live on this page, you can write down what family you think need help. we'll see you think you need help or just simply put you know you need food or you know somebody need food to put your phone number or Email. send this to somebody to get back to you and and And deliver that food for you, you don't have to come pick it up. We're gonna bring it to you. so make sure you do that we we need as many folks know that as possible possible I just got a thing that says they need the phone number. If you wanna go get tested at Branch book, part skating ring you got to call 97398 5197398 5197398 51 to set up get an appointment out there. And get tested, please remember no cash payments, no cash payments and you can also call 18 hundred 734708 318 hundred 734708 three. That means you don't have to wait for us to set up the site for the rest of the city. you're sick now today, you can go to no insurance. No nothing go there and call them and get yourself tested right now. it's it's extremely important that you do that. and after that happens is important that you in fact, socially distance right that you quarantine yourself now you're no longer socially Dist that you have to quarantine yourself. which is extremely important for us to do as I said we are opening we have started a Committee to discuss how we gonna open up the city. I want you to stay tuned and stay focused on that. cuz we need you to be at ambassadors to spread the word so people that think that it means that we run into the store and run to the Super run to the restaurants to run to the clubs or running to the Beauty Bar. We're not gonna do that. that's not gonna happen in the city. I don't care what they're doing in Florida. Don't send me anything about what's going on in Texas or anything that's going on in in Mississippi. Or any of those places cuz we not doing it in. I'm telling you I'm not doing that's not happening in this city until we get it right. in terms of the senses, we still that we had 38 point nine percent. Y'all Sad 38 point, nine percent of the folks who filled out the sense. It's not good, Not good, Not good. We have to get on that senses and tell everybody we know to do the senses that is just not a good look for us. 38 point nine percent. we're not even close to half of the of folks filling it out. We have to fill that out. We have to get everybody. We know to fill it out as well. Extremely important for us all, I just wanna the opportunity to shout out seven Year-old Leia Lopez for a beautiful artwork dedicated to all the front line workers seven Year-old Leia Lopez. I wanna Thank you for the for the work. You did also Queen Bee 911 always gives us a good information. she sent me a video of folks who recovering from cold in 19, be let out of the hospital. that's a great. People are beating it, defeating it and coming home in the hospitals are getting clear. It's like our numbers are starting to get steady. The hospitals are getting clearer. Social distancing is working y'all. It's working social distancing is working. It's working with the numbers are are are beginning to stabilize themselves right and the more we test we get to measure that and they start to stabilize the hospitals are getting a little bit clearer than they used to be right. They're getting clearer right so those are. Great things people are coming out of it are coming home less people are dying. It's incredibly important. We are we are reaching a great place, which means a social Dist is working and we just have to hang on hang on and hang in there. Hang on and hang in there are already sold out. I'm savage new days. We need a guaranteed income for all education like fresh air and food and water and shelter and be free from sickness and disease. We need long life to collectively opposed death and stagnation. We need ideas and imagination. We should be against Hood's like she was the one that taking keep taking from the meat and off the defenseless. even the glorified trap. Yeah, we're against the track too. We need our free from poison to be able to breathe in and feel the wind in our faces. We need to end up in the war oppression. We need the people to own their own labor. We need every corner of every. Developed in every community in power, we need it all turn right side up the raw materials from the Earth in poverty anywhere. It exists the calls on our hands and the pains not lower back to be added to our savings we need to ban the Confederate flag and every monument with genocide with a Red letter or just plain, tell em down and replace them with statues of of of of women that carried us through the darkest moments of history. We need to destroy all nuclear weapons, But first start with automatic rifles and handguns. We need to replace the war on drugs or war ignorance. To destroy the pipelines, the cages and use the savings to develop the human spirit to treat illness, social mental and physical. We need freedom, not just a bill of rights, but the rights to build our own lives, be free from destitute and hatred and hungry children free from sickness with cures, undeveloped and cold winter nights with no heat free from losing our land, our block our community, our home free from choking to death in our own backyard and schools that undermine our self-esteem. We need to be free from praising those that led us and free to pray in any language or anyone we choose to be. How we define it to be free how we define it to not live with nothing and free enough to know the world is made of all of us, not just some of us and that only with all of us are free. None of us will be that's an excerpt from a poem called what we want. Check it out. God bless you all God speed to you be safe. Stay home social distance.
