UPDATE on our RootsAction campaign to make the Democratic Party live up to its first name. We attended last week's DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee meeting in DC.... Before the committee meeting, DNC Chair Tom Perez had received more than 10,000 individual emails from RootsAction supporters urging him to support the Unity Reform Commission recommendations. At the meeting, Perez publicly expressed support for proposals that would be a start towards reform in the party, including reducing superdelegates by 60% and increasing financial transparency. The Rules and Bylaws Committee now has to draft its own proposal, which is likely to be voted on at the full DNC's fall meeting.
