- Cody Miller, I just wanted to write and thank you for sharing your l...ife with Pectus Excavatum. It turned out to be a blessing for our famiy. While watching the Olympics, I was captured by a segment on you that spoke about your PE. I looked at your chest and realised my eleven-year-od grandon had a similar "hollow" that has become more pronounced as he has hit puberty. I mentioned it to my daughter and she researched it. When my grandson developed some swelling in his ankes and shortness of breath, she took him to his doctor and happened to mention what she had learned about PE. Was that a possibility with Michael? Chest x-rays confirmed it and he was sent to a pediatric pulmonologist. He is currently scheduled to see a cardiologist. His PE is quite acute, restricting his lung growth and possibly heart function. His lung capacity is 68%.
:-(. They are going to send him to a hospital in Norfolk, VA, that specializes in the HUSS procedure. So, know from us, that your willingness to raise awareness has gone a long way to help at least one young man and his family.
