Coffee cups and lids go in the waste bin, but cardboard coffee sleeves can go in the "Paper" recycling. Alternatively, avoid the waste altogether by bringing a reusable mug and get a $0.50 discount at the Coop and Hieber Cafe.
Colgate University will be carbon neutral in 2019. Since committing to carbon neutrality in 2009, Colgate has made great strides toward sustainability, reducing net campus emissions by 51% while engaging over 80 student interns in the process. Noah Campbell '18 did research on water quality in Florence with Professor Tseng over winter break. The purpose of the trip was to learn about the quality of drinking water in fountains around the city.

Colgate’s Office of Sustainability has employed over 80 interns since 2009. Students organize programs and initiatives across campus to further Colgate’s sustainability goals.
