We started making our hammocks in Ethiopia 3 years ago because we found a way to scale our production in a manner that aligned with our underlying social goals to support the creation of fair-paying jobs for women.

Apparently we aren't the only ones who've discovered that Ethiopia is an up and coming powerhouse in the textile industry.

Ethiopia is hosting Africa's main trade show for cotton, textile, apparel, home and technology industries this year. The African Sourcing and Fashion Week from 3 to 6 October at Addis Abba offered the

The very first hammock we ever created -- more than 7 years ago -- was pink and blue and had the secret code name "Parrot Fish". The Parrot Fish beta hammock was created in Cambodia, and went for a field test in Homer, Alaska (pictured here) while we were trying to figure out if it was really feasible to start a hammock company. This image of co-founder Tianna Weaver hanging out in Alaska is a #BrightSpot to us because it reminds us of our simple, yet colorfully fabulous beginnings!

This week marks SEVEN years of Color Cloud Hammocks!

Even before we blew out the candles on our first birthday cake in 2010, we had one big wish: We wished that our hammocks would bring colorful moments into the lives of all the people who touched them.

We call these colorful moments Bright Spots, and since the day we dreamed up Color Cloud, we've been scheming on how we can bring more of them into the world.

...

As we prepare to celebrate our 7th birthday we've been reflecting on some of our brightest moments as the world's most colorful hammock company. Like that time we created the world's longest flashmob hammock chain, landed a hammock on all 7 continents, and got voted the least extinct hammock company by the most extinct reptile.

While we hope you enjoy our Bright Spot memories-- we'd be even more excited if you'd share yours. Post a pic of your favorite Color Cloud moment on Instagram or Facebook and tag #BrightSpots.

And most of all... thanks for making the world a little bit brighter in the last 7 years! We're grateful for you!
