Advocates working on the Housing for Crime Victims Special Project will share lessons they have learned, successes they have experienced, and challenges they have faced in assisting survivors with long-term housing options. In addition, tips on how to utilize VOCA funds for long-term housing, will be shared.
The Housing for Crime Victims Special Project focuses on helping survivors increase acces...s to, and retain safe, long-term housing and providing the necessary supports they need to rebuild their lives. The Housing Projects rely on survivor-driven mobile advocacy (meeting survivors where they are in the community or at home), housing assistance, supportive services, community engagement, and financial assistance.
Presenters will also share information on housing protections available to survivors in Colorado and will share additional resources.

On Feb. 7, 2018, Response's annual Chocolate Classic fundraiser will bring in restaurants and chefs from all over the valley to the Hotel Jerome in Aspen, CO, to compete for the title of best chocolate dessert.
Our mission is to support, educate, and empower survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and the success of our annual fundraiser allows us to provide our services to the members of our community at zero cost.
General admission tickets are $40 in advance and ...$50 on the day of the event. General admission ticket holders are welcome from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
VIP tickets are available for $100 and include judging, champagne, light hors d'oeuvres and a private tasting that will take place from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Tickets for children 12 and under are $20 in advance and $30 at the door.

January Agenda Topic: Indeterminate Sentencing for Sex Offenders.
COVA is proud to announce the 6th year of the Colorado Crime Victims' Rights Caucus. This caucus hopes to serve as the General Assembly's subject matter experts in ensuring that the rights of crime victims are appropriately balanced in the consideration of criminal justice policy.
This training will provide an overview of the Colorado Victim Rights Amendment (VRA), including history, crimes covered and the rights afforded to victims of those crimes. We will discuss who is responsible for upholding victim rights and the process for compliance should a victim feel their rights have been violated. We will also discuss how advocates can access COVA’s Emergency Fund on behalf of victims they are working with, including the application process, eligibility requirements, ineligible expenses, and examples.
The Victim Information & Notification Everyday (VINE) service has gone through exciting enhancements in 2017! These enhancements include changes to VINELink, the public web service for VINE. VINELink can be a valuable tool, used to register victims of crime for notifications of changes in offender custody status.
