Cyclone Gita caused widespread damage in Tonga last week. This is the worst storm to hit Tonga in 60 years. Assessing the damage has been difficult because of the loss of power over much of the island and the roadways being blocked by debris. Brother Vai has been driving to the homes of church members to check in with them as he has not been able to reach most by phone. He is getting estimates for repairs, but CSI can help with an immediate need which is to provide 50 familie...s with food and hygiene items. $3700 will help us meet this need. While Brother Vai's heart aches for the losses he said: "I am thankful for this cyclone, because it is giving me a chance to be a servant." What a servant's heart he has. Let's serve the people of Tonga today. You can donate today or join us on this Sunday for Compassion Sunday! Your gifts on Compassion Sunday help CSI be ready when disasters like Cyclone Gita hit. You help us stay prepared! Just visit www.compassionservices.org/donate

Cyclone GITA struck the South Pacific Islands of Tonga causing widespread destruction and it will take many months before life returns to normal. The internet is still down, power lines are down across the island and have been restored to only a very few areas and time is very limited on their phones. We have been informed that food and water are very limited. The main island is flat, so the winds destroyed crops and future food supplies. CSI will be working closely with our missionaries and local contacts to assess this situation. You can donate to help the people of Tonga here: www.compassionservices.org/donate Please keep Tonga in your prayers. #compassionfortonga #csidisasterrelief
