Congratulations to Megan Smith, a senior at Bellefonte Area High School, for winning First Place in the annual Congressional Art Competition. Megan's work, "Spoons," will hang in the U.S. Capitol for one year with winners across the country!
We had 39 outstanding entries this year! Congratulations to everyone who participated and we hope that all eligible students will participate again next year.
Glenn Thompson added 9 new photos from April to the album: Take Your Child To Work Day 2018 — at Dirksen Senate Office Building.
My three sons are grown, but I had the opportunity to participate in "Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day" this year. It's the second year in a row that I hosted Seth, who is 8-years-old and lives in Maryland. I was glad to see my buddy again - a fellow Boy Scout. We had a great day together.
This morning I was on C-SPAN's Washington Journal with host John McArdle to talk about the 2018 Farm Bill, which touches Americans in every corner of the country.

Today, I was proud to stand with the House Agriculture Committee to announce H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018. This new Farm Bill addresses the economic challenges facing the nation’s farmers and ranchers while making historic investments in opportunities for SNAP recipients.
Earlier this week, I was pleased to meet with a number of future agriculture leaders as 4-H leaders from across the country who were in town for the National 4-H Conference. #FarmersFeed #NutritionMatters
Glenn Thompson shared Central Pennsylvania Food Bank's post.
Great to discuss the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the 2018 Farm Bill at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank this morning with Secretary Russell Redding and many industry and agency representatives. Thank you to the Central PA Food Bank for hosting this outstanding event to discuss how we can maintain this important program that helps so many in need.
Today, we hosted another great round table discussion on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the 2018 Farm Bill. For this one, we were hon...ored to be joined by Glenn Thompson, chair of the congressional subcommittee on nutrition and representative of PA's 5th, which includes State College. Also joining us were PA Dept of Ag Secretary Russell Redding, members of the grocery industry, our partner agencies, and representatives from the ag industry. #SNAPMatters

Today is #NationalAgDay, a time when we celebrate the U.S. agriculture industry and recognize the role it plays in our everyday lives.
Ag is Pennsylvania's No. 1 industry and I am proud of our American farmers, growers, and ranchers who provide so much for our nation and the world.

Our U.S. agriculture industry is as wide and diverse as its people and plays a vital role in ensuring our nation continues to enjoy the most abundant and affordable food and fiber supply in the world. Happy #NationalAgDay from #HouseAg
Glenn Thompson shared Kelly Tapper's post.
I had an excellent meeting today with MS advocates. Thank you for coming in today to speak with me about this important topic. #MSPPC18
It was a pleasure to meet with Glenn Thompson today to discuss issues important to those of us living with MS #MSPPC18 #MSactivist #nuerodata
Today, I met with individuals from UniqueSource Products & Services in the U.S. Capitol.
UniqueSource is in Washington, D.C. for its Pennsylvania Day on the Hill to talk about the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Thank you for promoting meaningful employment opportunities for everyone. #MyLifeMyHomeMyLife #MyChoice #UniqueSource #Pennsylvania

Had an excellent morning speaking with advocates at the annual National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference.
Thank you for the work you do to help alleviate hunger and ensure all people have access to nutritious food.
“Are you all ready to work with me to end hunger now?” - Congressman Glenn Thompson at the Lobby Day breakfast this morning! #hungerpc18
Congressman Thompson was not on the train that collided with a vehicle earlier today in Corzet, Va. The Congressman drove his private automobile to the Republican retreat.
He is aware of the situation, has been communicating with his colleagues, and is praying for everyone involved in this terrible incident. The National Transportation Safety Board is sending highway and rail investigators to the scene and they'll be releasing more information as it is available.

I find it troubling that a majority of the Senate Democrats have chosen to severely jeopardize our military readiness, shut down essential government operations, and eliminate health care coverage for low-income children while setting an arbitrary deadline to address the DACA issue.
I maintain that we must achieve comprehensive immigration reform, which includes providing certainty on the status of those brought here as children, but a government shutdown is not the way to a...chieve this policy goal. I have been working toward a bipartisan agreement to protect the fate of the "Dreamers" and to ensure our borders are secure for the safety of all Americans.
In accordance with the law, my Bellefonte and Titusville district offices will be closed and many of my staff members will be furloughed for the duration of any budget impasse. I will remain in Washington working to get the impasse resolved. It is my hope that cooler heads will prevail and we can quickly find a resolution to reopen the federal government
Glenn Thompson added 3 new photos to the album: March for Life 2018.
The 45th annual March for Life took place on Friday, January 19, 2018 in Washington, D.C.
While stopgap funding bills are not ideal, I voted for the continuing resolution last night because it is an important step forward for the Children’s Health Insurance Program. Approving a six-year extension will provide states and families participating in the program the certainty they deserve.
I hope the Senate will do its job before midnight tonight. A #SchumerShutdown does not help the American people.
