I’m disappointed that once again, my colleagues across the aisle are using the COVID-19 crisis as an opportunity to push their partisan agenda. House Democrats just passed partisan legislation that would expand Obamacare, implement government price setting for drugs, and result in fewer cures for Americans. I spoke during debate on the House floor today in opposition to this government power grab.

Today House Democrats passed a massive 900-page energy bill that would authorize more than $135 billion in spending on radical Green New Deal priorities at the expense of others, like nuclear energy. I spoke during debate on the House floor in opposition and highlighted the importance of nuclear energy as a leader of clean energy and key to remaining energy independent. #gopHEAT

This week I talked with sheriffs and police chiefs in #GA12 about police reform legislation. Their feedback is important to me, especially since the House will vote on partisan legislation later today. Everyone agrees there is need for reform, but without any bipartisan input, House Democrats have crafted a bill that has no chance of becoming law. Their proposal contains partisan poison pills and goes too far in federalizing law enforcement, which is best handled at the state and local level. I’m proud to cosponsor the #JusticeAct, which offers real solutions like strengthening training, ensuring departments share information, increasing transparency, and much more. Unfortunately, Senate Democrats blocked any debate on this proposal. I hope they stop politicizing this issue and work with us on meaningful reform.
