Lowering Prescription Drug Costs

Granite Staters and folks nationwide are sick of paying sky-high prices for the prescription drugs they rely on. My Energy and Commerce Committee colleagues and I are marking up H.R. 3, the Lower Drug Costs Now Act, right now to make prescription drugs affordable for taxpayers. This legislation would:

- Allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices

- Ensure Americans aren’t charged higher prices than other countries for the same prescription drugs

- Stop pharmaceutical companies from forcing Americans to pay unacceptably high prices for prescriptions

Excited to see our committee take much-needed action to lower drug costs.

Hey, folks, we've got a really long day today in our House Energy and Commerce Committee but it's all good news. We are going to report out H R three which is our prescription drug bill that's gonna lower the cost of prescription medication for seniors under the Medicare Part D benefit and lower expenses for taxpayers. I'm Super excited about this bill includes a $2000 cap for Medicare beneficiaries for their prescription drugs. So they won't pay more than $2000 out of pocket and the savings from negotiating better prices can be passed on even to Americans that get their health insurance through private companies. So it's a big bill. It's complicated will be at it for hours, but it's very important that we're gonna deliver on our promise to bring down the cost of prescription medication.
