Paisley piping on yummy mocha frosting. I made myself this cake for my last birthday, as I had seen so many beautiful paisley and henna decorated cakes and wanted to give it a try. I now have even more respect for the cake artists, who do intricate piping work!
A funeral cake for Mike, honoring some of his favorite things: the blue stars for the Dallas Cowboys, the gears for his beloved motorcycle and the lyrics around the cake from his favorite singer, adorned with Dallas Cowboys colored roses.
The top was vanilla spice cake with cream cheese frosting and raspberry jam; the bottom chocolate cake with a spicy New Orleans mocha frosting.
This was tricky; a delicious German chocolate cake with yummy, gooey, soft organic home made coconut frosting and silky 'milk' chocolate frosting...neither which lends itself to cake building. On top of that, this was buttercream, not fondant. I'm actually proud of the way it turned out, though.
