At the Democratic Caucus last night, a crowd of about 30 people unanimously nominated Lou Allstadt for the one-year Trustee term, and Bruce Maxon for a three-year term. Chairman Richard Abbate was nominated for a three-year term, in the absence of another nominee, but he will be spending the next few days searching for a replacement candidate.

The most often heard excuse for not voting in an election is "my one little vote won't make a difference." Yet history is full of instances proving the enormous power of one single vote. In many cases, the course of nations has been changed because one individual ballot was cast — or not cast — depending upon your point of view. I believe the Village residents not only owe it to themselves but to the men and woman who died protecting our right to vote. I hope all residents will exercise their right to vote on March 20.

Last night's Democratic caucus, held at the Cooperstown Fire Hall, was very well attended. A standing room only crowd unanimously nominated trustee candidates James Dean and Cindy Falk, and mayoral candidate Jeff Katz to run. Cooperstown Democratic Party Chairman Richard Abbate congratulated the excellent slate of candidates on their nominations, and invited everyone to attend a fundraiser at 3 Westridge Road this Friday at 7 pm. The journey continues!
