It had been some time since I last visited Coquette Cafe, but I thought I would give it a chance on husbands birthday, having had positive experiences there previously. We had a 7:15 reservation. We... were seated promptly but waited about 10 minutes to get a menu. Our waitress was constantly attending to a large party and we felt like an afterthought. We got our salads fairly quickly but then there was an excessive lapse in time after that point. We noted that all tables had bread so we stopped our waitress in passing (this is now 30+ min since our arrival) and asked for bread. She replied, "I can get you some bread if you want", in a dismissive sort of way like we were inconveniencing her. 1 hour and 20 min after ordering we were still without food. Again our waitress was mostly attending to the large party. She came by and said the kitchen was backed up. I understand that's not her fault but, seriously, if you have guests waiting this long, come by more than every 20 min to check in. We asked management for bill and the woman who helped us was very helpful, to her credit. She stated we didn't have to pay bill. When we went to gather our stuff our food was now coming out (8:55). We asked that it be packaged for us to take home at this point as we had to pick up our kids. Thankfully, Milwaukee has so many great restaurants now that have exceptional food and service so I would not likely make a return visit here. The food was average when we ate it at home. The bread was hard and cold and difficult to cut. See More

My wife and I just love this place. Great food in a very cool space. Very friendly staff. Nice little bar. They do everything right and perfectly thread the needle between fancy/romantic and casual/un...pretentious. Just a gem. Our favorite Milwaukee restaurant. See More

The ability to get food with little to no wait on trendy ass Sunday morning is worth that trip alone. Come for the easy seating, stay for that amazing food.

Took our money for cooking class with pleasure and of course will not refund it. I hope they open another place, so I can boycott it.

The food came out cold - both our duck appetizer and then my husbands pork loin main entree. The food quality overall is so-so.

We had a fabulous dinner at Coquette on September 20. Our food was flawless and the service superb. I highly recommend the special-Sesame Crusted Tuna Steak. Wow. I am still thinking about it today.

A charming building in the historic third ward! The staff is as friendly as can be. A great place to get cozy for any occasion--even for lunch. Menu is deep rooted in French fare and done to perfectio...n. Leave room for dessert and coffee or a nice hand crafted espresso drink. The chef is extremely knowledgeable and his team is reflection of his accomplishments and hard work. Do yourself a flavor and eat here! See More

The best French food Milwaukee has to offer. A staff that is great at what they do as well as being genuinely great people. The building itself is cute and cozy. The brunch is my favorite, the menu has all the classic French dishes one could ask for, and the specials never disappoint. See More

The bartendress, concocted divine cocktails, the pear martini and the elderberry old fashion, the chicken coq au vin, DELICIOUS. The only drawback was our waitress needed more customer service trainin...g. Nothing worse than having to ask for water, more bread, butter, etc. Indeed, we'd return again! See More

Delicious brunch, we sat at the bar with mitchel as our bartender/ server, he was very entertaining and a great storyteller. The steak was cooked to perfection and the Mediterranean Benedict was great.

Incredibly poor service. We realized it was Valentine's Day and the service would probably be a little slower. However, the couple next to us was being waited on frequently. We waited over a hour and ...a half to get our entrees. We order soup and that arrived after 50 minutes. We were tired of waiting and being ignored when others who arrived after us were getting waited on. We asked for the check because we were tired of waiting around. Within a minute after we did that they "just happened to have our food ready". Their apologizes seemed very forced and the staff was full of excuses. They didn't care about our business and we won't be back.
By the way, I ordered a salad, without any meat. A salad takes about five minutes to make. Thanks for making a special a day a pretty disappointing one.

I was surprised by Coquette Cafe tonight and not 100% in a good way. We went there for a small plate event that was being held in Milwaukee Taste and Toast. The first two appetizers out of this wor...ld. The French onion soup home run! The last two appetizers the chicken nachos were only ok. The flatbread pizza was not good we love pears, blue cheese so should have been a home run -- but there was just something off about it. We each just tried one slice. My disappointment comes in the fact that when we shared with our waitstaff there was no offer to make it right (substitute something else or take off bill ) I do still love this restaurant the pomes frites and mussels are to die for. I just wish our waitress had wanted to be there. See More

The food and drinks were wonderful and the service was great! The French martini that is on their website is not on the menu anymore. They made it anyway and it was super yummy!

I was disappointed to find that there is no accessible entrance. The lift at the back entrance was rusty and did not work. When I inquired, the staff was unaware that the lift did not work. Food was g...reat, but I won't be back until accessibility issue is resolved. See More

Great food as always, we had a great anniversary dinner - we've been eating at Coquette for over a decade. Regarding the dinner portion, the wait was a tad too long.

I had an amazing dinner with friends. I have always loved my own quiche, but theirs is fabulous. Drinks were amazing and atmosphere was perfect. Cannot wait to return!

We've been here many times and always love the food and service. We've also been serviced by Richard numerous times and he is perfection. The whole dining experience was a great start to my birthday.
