What a great atmosphere. Corkgrinders is an eclectic little surprise found amongst the bellowing refineries of Baytown. You will find this gem full of poets, comedians, magicians, local pols, and co...llege students. The staff is friendly and prompt, the crowd is friendly and welcoming.

I stumbled in and had a couple of beers brewed by local Houston breweries (I'd half expected the Baytown beer list to be limited to Lone Star, Bud Light, and MIller Lite) and my tab was so low I asked if there was some mistake.

I don't often find myself in Baytown, but to see a comedy show of this quality, or one of the many slam poetry shows, or the jazz shows I heard people talking about, it is worth the trip. Five stars are not enough. Baytown is lucky to have Corkgrinders and I look forward to finding myself there again.

When I first moved to Baytown 6 years ago I hoped for a place like Corkgrinders to open up. It took a little while for the music scene and things like Open Mic poetry to happen but it happened. I don'...t miss living in Houston so much with something like this around. They have delicious food (although a little pricey) but the drinks are delicious and well-priced and the atmosphere contends with a coffee shops in Houston. Now that Texas Avenue has been spruced up I am excited for the trend that Corkgrinders is setting to be expanded! See More

I love this place and really miss it. This is where I first performed Spoken Word poetry and I hope to return soon. The owners are really friendly. They went out of their way to prepare a vegan dish f...or me and it was DELICIOUS too. See More

This place is a refreshing respite from the big-brand coffee shops...eclectic, laid back, and down right electric. The people of Baytown need to get off their couches and venture over to West Texas Av...enue and experience a bit of the world outside their living rooms... See More

I rated it 5 and it says I loved it which I definitely did/do.
I'm very happy that Cork Grinders isn't closing because I have met so many interesting people, heard many lovely bands and smoked a lot o...f fucking cigarettes there. I don't know where else I'd meet my friends at if this place didn't exist.
Thanks for having rad staff and providing a place for us weirdos.

The new menu has less variety. The service is slow. This used to be my favorite place when I moved to Baytown.

Hey Open Mic people, our good friend, Jim Gill from Faith Presbyterian Church has invited everyone to an Open Mic night at his church this Thursday night from 7 - 10pm (poets welcome), followed by Open Mic at The Dirty Bay Beer Company from 9pm-1am. Diversity and open mic nights were some of the greatest things about Cork Grinders. Please keep this fire alive and support the local live scene this Thursday night!
